Icon8 Got my new 2007 ranger, BUT....

Hello Folks,

After about 2 month of wait time, I finally received my 2007 Ford Ranger FX-4 Level II... I will post some pictures tommorow... I've also taken the Pioneer option.. and WOW... What a great sound system for the price....

BUT.. I have an issue... If you open/close the main door, everything is cool...However, on the passenger side, the small rear door, once you open them, you have to close it VERY hard for it to proper clip and remain closed... On the driver side, the rear door is very easy to close as it was with my 2002 edge ranger...

What do you guys think is the issue.. I have to get a remote start system installed so I guess ford can fix this on monday.. But it's weird that i have to bang it very close to close.. + it's a new car..

If anyone have any suggestions, please let me know...

Thanks!

I bought a 2004 FX4 Level II and my passenger sup. cab door is the same way. I have to grab it at the upper part of the door and slam it pretty hard or it wont latch completely and it rattles. I never could get the dealer to do anything about it but maybe thats because I worked there and they didnt figure I would throw much of a fit.

Uhm....

If I bring it to the dealer, you think they can fix it ? My gf is having a hard time to close it.. Like someone posted, I have to take the upper part and slam it pretty hard...

I hope they can fix this as it is not normal in my opinion....

I fixed mine by just re-adjusting the place where it clicks closed (The name escapes me now!). I had to use a T-45 Torx I think. It was the same one as I needed for my bodylift for the rear jump-seats. It took about 10-15 minutes to get it right. Tightening, closing the door, then loosening and re-adjusting until it closed well. If you dont have the tool, just bring it to the dealer. Its a brand new truck so they should adjust it for free. if they dont, they are jerks and I dont know what to tell you.

Both of my rear doors close easy without slamming. Take it back to the dealer, it has to be adjusted. Have fun and enjoy your new ride!

Thanks for all the info folks!!!

I called and I ordered a Remote Start System. They said they will look at it once I will bring the truck to get it installed...

Btw, the truck is awsome, the color is soooo cooolll... Right now it's icy outside, but tommorow, i'll take some nice pictures for you guys!

Thanks for the info about the latch, at least I know it's not broken..

Thanks again!

I can 'push' the rear doors closed until you can hear them 'click' into spot.. This takes quite a bit of force, but it works without slamming them.

Why do i do this you ask? So I don't wake up the old man at 2 am by slamming the doors.

Where is the adjustments to re align the door, I've noticed my back passenger door leaks a bit durring hard rain storms and it's really pissing me off since I just change the carpet. Will changing out the rubber seal help too?

Hey there,

Im really happy so far with my 2007 Ford Ranger FX-4 Level II... I had a 2002 Ford Ranger Edge before and wow, what a difference...

I will take some pictures tommorow after work...

Also, im really happy to hear that im not the only one with a rear door issue. I have to bring it to my dealer to install a remote start system this week so I'll ask them to fix it.

Scratching the top of my head.......

When you buy a new vehicle you should put a pencil and a piece of paper in it right after you read the owners manual. (amazing the info you get out of that little book) As you drive your new vehicle you write down any problems that you find. Squeaks, doors that don't shut properly and other things. You visit you dealer with your list once you feel you have found all the things wrong. Then service manager can go over your list, make an appointment to service your new vehicle and give you an estimate of how long it will take to complete the work.
I always thought that's how everyone treated their new ride?
That's another reason I like a 500 mile oil change. I bring it in for oil change and minor adjustments.

My 07 Ranger Sport initially had the door problem with both rear doors. After 5,000 miles though, and numerous open/shuts, I don't have the problem anymore. Everything just needs some time to "work itself out".

It's a real common issue my 2003 did the same thing. Just bring it back to dealer it cost me $12.00 to have the door realigned so it shut properly.
