When I was installing my BL, I came to the extension for the shift lever. Well, after removing the boot and cup holders and such, I found out that the nut that belongs on the bolt to remove the lever wasn't there. So Ive just had a short lever since then and I'd like to fix it now. Is there anything special about that nut or does anyone know the size so I can grab a new one?

Hmmm....that nut that attaches to the cam bolt is 'i wanna say' 1/2-24? I'm headed off to the hardware store today...i'll update this thread and let ya know.

The one from my 2003 is metric 12x1.25.

 

I know this is old but I never found one. Does anyone know where I can get a replacement for this missing nut? Would a ford dealership have one?

 

Any AP store ought to have those in the HELP section.

Really nothing special about that size nut, try NAPA.

 

Why not just get one from a junkyard... I'm sure you have a junkyard with a few smashed up 5 speed rangers...

There is a fully threaded bolt that goes through the base of the shift lever where the extension goes. It has a nut on it that's used to put in or remove the bolt. It's the nut that I'm missing and I can't find what size it is. I found a bolt at work that was the right diameter but the threading didn't match.

 

METRIC. 12x1.25 thread pitch. hardware store. to make it 'proper', it needs to be a flange nut, but i dont think it's required.

 

Yup, got it. Probably cost more to ship than buy local, but in any case let me know if you wind up needing it.
