the big three, Big 3

I known i've seen posts about upgrading the "Big 3." But my search attempts have failed and I was wondering what's all needed in performing the "Big 3?"

I'm going to do the big 3 on my brothers car he just got (2001 Camaro) and was wondering what materials/tools were needed. If all goes well I will do this on my Ranger.

I was figuring i need the welders cable (if my memory is correct), how thick?
some connectors (what kind?)
shrink wrap (what kind store can that be purchased at?)
Are there any tools that will make the job easier? I don't have a vast tool collection, unless wrenches are needed.

Battery to chassis - ground
Alternator to battery - power
engine to chassis - ground

Cable sizing depends on load but 4awg is a good overkill rule of thumb. Ring terminals will get the job done.

Car audio cable tends to have a better flexibility if that is needed. Also the terminals tend to be nicer looking from the car audio realm, if your into blingy wire terminals.

More than likely, yours will end up being:

Battery to chassis - ground
engine to chassis - ground
Alternator to UHJB - power thru the 125A fuse
UHJB to +battery - power

Then you are still left with battery to starter, which doesn't need to be upgraded but still needs connected. I'd be real interested to some pictures of anything 98+ upgraded.

You could stack 2 terminals at the UHJB to +battery terminal, running one to the starter.
That might look cleaner than adding a terminal at the + battery post/terminal.

I'd like to see some photos, bring on the bling.
