Sliding Rear Window
 

Well, it looks like I found a truck I like (have not looked at it but I will soon) and I see that it doesn't have a rear sliding window. I wanted to get a truck that has rear sliding window so my dogs could stick their heads in.

How much would it cost to replace the window to a rear sliding one? Thanks.

i had the same problem to found one that i liked but it dosent have a sliding window. im planning on going to a junkyard and getting one then just having my local auto glass place install it for me.

There are plenty of aftermarket sliders out there, I got a four panel slider, the middle slides from the center.

Can’t remember the name of the manufacturer but look around.
If Ford has one for $214 might be worth buying it.

You can go to the junkyard and get one, Just make sure if its extended cab regular, you get one from another extended cab. Reg. cab windows are put in differently

My ’03 reg cab has a bolt in rear window, is that normal ?

The bolts were never part of the factor in holding the window in place.
The bolts are there because when the truck was rolling down the line, they couldn't hold the window in place long enough for the urethane to dry.
So yea, its normal for bolts to be in them.

It looks as if you are speaking from experience and must have worked on a Ranger assembly line. I replaced my leaky solid rear window with a Ford OEM Carlite slider for $165 including tax today. I hope it doesn't leak. The Privacy glass was a positive addition.

The older trucks were known to leak due to the Buytl roll slipping or such.

Almost all the trucks can/do leak through the 3rd brake light.

Regcab windows are the best IMO, Roped in gasket seals pretty tight.

My regular cab slider went in with butyl tape. The glass seems to sit out farther than the factory one piece window. My seat rested on the window when it was reclined all the way. It doesn't go far back enough to hit the sliding rear window I installed.
