Snow Stuck
 

Well I got snow stuck for the first time this year. Definately helped my descision to get tires other than the Wrangler RT/S that came stock. Anyone got a good suggestion for an all around tire? Was thinking BFG's? I will try and get picts up of the snow. None of the actual stuck or recovery. However I wis I did for how much flexing my Ranger was doing since I had to get pulled out over a driveway embankment. It was a pretty funny situation over all, cuz it happened in town, which I live in a small hicktown and we have ditches on the city streets instead of curbs. So I parked where I thought it was tar then it just slid sideways down into the ditch. Almost drove her out til she sank on the last run. Glad nothing got twisted that I could see from the flexing it was pretty intense.

you should be able to run 31x10.50 bfg a/t's on the stock rims with no problems.

Not on the stock rims because I have 16's but on my new rock crawlers thats the size I am going with.

i wouldn't go with heavy steal rims, but to each their own.

put 285's on the stock rims.......

265/75R16s fit perfect....not small....but not too big either. I ran those when I had my 16" teardrop stockers. I love my BFG M/T's.....but....if your a road warrier, just get the A/T's. Now I notice you are in Minnesota.......get m/t's.

Yea i got a call from a buddy last night. Had his cherokree stuck . I got there and not only was he stuck but his friends super duty was stuck too. I knew I could haul out the jeep but the super duty I wasnt sure of. But the end of the night i Had both out. Good old winter snow fun :shrug:

If you wanted to keep your stock rims, then a set of 265/75R16 or 275/70R16 bfgs would be perfect

I already have th eRock Crawlers for my winter rims just need to get the new tires, plus 31inch 15's are more affordable

Hey Chris what town is "up north" Minnesota? haha Well for what its worth at the beginning of winter I just put BFG's on my 2000 2wd and they are great! I drove up to do some snowmobiling at my dads in Alex. over the weekend and with the snow and ice on the roads I had no issues. I would definately recomend them to anyone, as I am sure many others on here would too.

I like BF Goodrich A/T's. Good all around tire, not too noisy on the street, and also provide good traction in inclement weather. The stock Wranglers suck. Your truck has 16" rims, so if you're using them, 31x10.50x15's won't fit of course. I think you are saying you're going to use other wheels, but it's kind of unclear.

Yes. I am using the other wheels. The stock ones are being sold, I am also buying another set of aftermarkets for spring/summer.

I bought my 2004 Ranger in March with the stock goodyears and they bought the farm my first weekend out! LOL. I went and bought the BFG t/a's but I only got 245/75/16s. I regret not going bigger but had no ideal back then what to buy and I needed tires asap. So if I get some tires again I can go to 265 easy? 285 with a T-Bar crank? I havent cranked them yet?.

Yes, post a pic of the ranger in the snowy ditch! Don't take much of a down hill angle to stuck in snow I would think. (I'm from Vegas, whats snow?) :)
