So I did the gauge mod

So I did the gauge mod. I changed from a standard black gauge to a white gauge out of a sport trac. Everything seems to be working, I just can't tell if the speedometer is off or not. It seems to increase in speed fine but it seems to be slow about decreasing. I need to get a gps and see how far off it is. When the truck is sitting still it is on 0mph so it should be about right. Anyhow hear are some before and after shots not the best in the world but i'm excited. I also did the airbag switch mod for code 2-7 so now my airbag warning light has gone off. I love these forums.

LOOKS GREAT!! You're speedo needle is probably off, unless you used a gps and drove the truck while setting the needle.

The AA trick....imagine two Ywires. two ends on the solders around the round silver thing, the other ends on a AA battery. should read about 77mph. Then, after install, do it again, and place the needle at 77mph. yea...i know...very descriptive aren't I? lol. I have a pic somewhere from when i did mike's.

I"m going to get my friends gps this weekend and see how far off it is. I'll try to set it like that while driving. If I can't adjust it for a few days will it mess anything up as far as the cluster goes?

Ok so If I get a gps and set the cruise to 60mph per the gps and pop the needle back on at the 60mph mark. That should get it pretty close. Am I correct in thinking this or am I overlooking something?

Great thank you so much. I don't know why it just drives me crazy with it being off lol. I think i'm just a little weird like that. The smallest things drive me nuts.

I posted pictures at some point when I did mine.

I'm to lazy to do a search for it.

Ok so I used a gps and i'm about 10mph to fast. I read somewear that you could rase the needle and let it fall below the stopping peg just a little and then put back over and that would also adjust it. Does that sound true? If so may be easier just to do that to get a little closer.

I don't know if that's the 'right' method on 03 and older gauges.

Here's the pic I was talking about... And in a min, i'll make a PAINTchop schematic as to how to do it.

Speed might not be correct, but i believe what Mike and I got was 77mph w/ a AA battery. And the bottom pic i believe the battery is turned the correct direction, but black wire = positive, red = neg. Diagram should be correct.

I think i'm going to try the gps method first. Get it to 60mph and see if I can get the needle on. Even if it's a couple mph off I can deal with that. Hopefully it will work. Thanks for all your help guys, I really appreciate it.
