So I need a new battery....

after all the mods and working on the truck with the radio on and playing music without the truck running it just wont handle it any more without me putting it on the battery charger if i dont start the truck for a day or two.

Now the truck cranks slower and just does not start as fast.

So are the optimas really worth it? $200 see really high for a battery, i think i crapped myself when i saw the price. lol

I think the Red Top would be my choice but idk if it is really worht 200 bucks.

Maybe just get a regular battery? I mean the one i have worked great for 4 years.

Anyways I have had to get a jump and put it on the charger 3 times in the last week.

Suggestions?

I would go with Optima, I put one in my wakeboard boat it sits all winter and it cranks over a big v-6 with no problems.

Shouldn't Optimas (red tops) be in the $130 range? I agree that's still a big chunk of change to swallow, but I've yet to hear anything bad about an optima battery either. It'd have to last close to 12 years though to get your money's worth versus a regular batter though!

Sears, buy a diehard gold battery, 3 year full replacement warrenty, 100 month prorated warrenty, anywhere from 50 to 150 more CCA over stock. i think our rangers are a group 58 but not 100% sure. they run around 87.99-94.99.

Buy a NAPA battery. Make sure to get the proper CCA.

I use a NAPA battery and use a radio in the garage so this doesn't happen. My batteries normally last 5 years in the truck with the 3 year warranty.

Now why would you do that? You don't have a winch or lights on the roof? Why would you need that kind of battery? Just asking......

becaue i leave my radio on for peroids of time at shows and such....and with a 300 watt aftermarket amp and a factory amp......along with the blue strobes, LED's, wig-wags, and other lights i use for the fire department....they get left on some times without the truck running.....

You my friend want the Optima D31A yellow top. Its the biggest battery they make has 900 CCA. Its big enough they have to offset the cells to make it as wide as a normal battery.

by the way it weighs in at 59.8 pounds.

www.1st-optima-batteries.com has free shipping on all optima batteries.

Zach, the highest a red top should be is $160. Check around for local stores and see if they price match or have deals. I picked one up for $117 at a local hardware/automotive shop.

I've had good luck with both the yellow top in my show car as well as my Ranger & I luv the fact that I have dual posts & used every bit of them.
