I love stangs, man... Don't get me wrong... But you're telling him a diesel isn't fast with light mods and that's BS. All my buddies have FS diesels on at minimum of 38's... And not one of them is "slow"... Hell I personally raced a GT in my buddies 4dr integra and SMOKED it... I did have over 285hp fully planted at the front wheels though lol

same thing here. they're great lookin cars. and very awesome. but you're acting a bit ignorant when you're talkin about motors that it doesnt sound like you know much about...

just sayin.

night everyone!

So, when I went to this sale going on at a local dealership, I test drove an 04 Colorado, and an 06 Dakota. The Colorado was real nice. Ex cab, topper, studded snow tires, and regular tires, trailer brakes. But that 5 cylinder sounded annoying, and the inside was a little too cramped.

That Dakota, though. Man. It had the 4.7 liter HO V8, crew cab, 4X4, low miles, power EVERYTHING. It had some get up and go, and it was VERY quiet. Only thing I didn't like about it was it has a shorter bed, but it's only about a foot shorter then what I got now, but it has way more room on the inside.

Talking to my bank on Monday to find out if I can do it. If I can, SWEET! If not, I'll be saving up to go the Chuck route, and get a bigger truck, LOL! I am hoping I can, though.
My girlfriend has an 08 Dakota SXT and I love it. Very nice features, looks sharp and it's definitely got that get up and go. That silent get up and go.

Mustangs up here, stock, run low 15's. Guarentee your 13 second mustang will be a 14.5 car. I know too many guys with the same mods you have that run them that fast.
My car is not a 13sec car

Is this the same truck that 'keeps up' with Z06s? Again, I would like to see a video of this truck running a 10.9-11.2 and I will believe you.

Maybe I will go look for PSD/Diesel races next weekend. Might be able to find one that isn't scared

I didn't know that PSD/diesels were 'all' others.

I think who you are meaning is the Porsche guys...

no, those guys are worse, but some mustang owners aren't far behind. and im not tryin to stir up any ****, just kinda tellin it how it is. and maybe i shouldnt say all others, but i bet if we were talkin about another type of car you'd say blah blah cant keep up with a stock gt even modded blah blah.

but to say a lightly modded diesel can't keep up with you is a stupid thing to say. when there are different diesels out there that react differently to different mods.
intake/exhaust/good tune alone makes them pretty damn fast..
put a bigger snail on it, along with some other supporting mods, and you've got yourself one helluva truck.

Ok here is the deal...we started out saying lightly modded. Which I look at as chip, intake, exhaust, etc. I have run many diesels that fall under that category. And have yet to be impressed. I am just going from experience here. Putting a larger turbo on there isn't exactly a 'light' mod. I mean, obviously if you put enough parts on it and build it out it will beat something.

As for saying I would talk crap about other types of cars etc. There have been a few threads on here where I have defended 'other' cars. In the chevy vs. ford thread, I defended both and like both. A H/C/I LSx car is one of the baddest things out there. Then throw in some spray on top of that and you have mid 11 car. Don't judge a book by its cover here. Just because you have prejudices towards Mustang owners doesn't mean we are all the same. I hang out with guys with Corvettes, TBSS, Camaros, Trans Ams, Bimmers, STis, Evos, Tuner Cars, etc, etc. Not exactly your perfect demographic crowd haha.

I'm not trying to hate on Mustangs or Mustang owners at all. As a matter of fact, I want a Mustang now. I have wanted one since I was young. Ryan, I have seen and commented on your Mustang threads about how sexy your car is. I am sure it is fast...no doubt about it.

All i'm saying is I personally have seen plenty of examples of diesels with intake, exhaust and a chip keep up or beating Mustangs. You may be different. To each his own.

Besides, they are a completely different animal. You drive a car that doesn't have much of a purpose besides looking sexy and being kinda fast. Yet a diesel can town grips of weight, haul 5-6 people, have 4 wheel drive, exc. Bottom line is it is way more practical...yet they can still whoop up on a Mustangs *** with some basic mods.

6.0L Powerstroke with an exhaust, SCT Custom Tuner and intake will run 13s all day long. The new 6.4Ls are near 500Hp on just a tuner!

There are too many fast diesels around now that will eat cars all day long at the track, go home, tow your toy hauler out to wherever you want to go and take you back home without breaking a sweat. Ask me how i know.

K...so now we are looking around at diesel powered vehicles no matter what they are just to find something that will 'beat me' or another GT?

I mean, I could post a crap ton of cars that would beat this and that. Not the point. I mean, a buddy of mine daily drives a 9 second TA. Also have a bunch of Fox, SN95 friends in the 10s that are completely street legal

Well, I figured since we were posting up completely unrelated vehicles, I would join in.

Again, I would like to see the Duramax on 40s that 'keeps up' with a Z06. Anyone got a video. I am assuming this is on the track? Since diesels fall on their face after 100ish MPH.

It's like talking to a 2 year old, talking to bamaGT...

Look dude, I personally was driving the duramax when I pulled up next to the z06 and the guy was sh!ttin his pants to look over and still see the duramax right next to him a 90mph. Only reason I knew his look was my buddy was sittin in the passenger seat (his truck he was tanked) and told me the guy rolled down the window and gave the thumbs up... Soon as the light turned green we both nailed it and took off. Believe me or not. But his "fall on it's face diesel" will smoke and I mean literally smoke your stang any day. Sorry, but get off your high mustang. You **** can stink. Big deal.

I dunno why you posted a GTO. Z06 is a different monster all together. They run 10s STOCK!!

I am a car savvy two year old I guess.

What does your buddy run in the 1/4? ET and trap?

jesus christ learn to read he already said the aforementioned duramax has to be detuned to run at the track because they wont let him pull passes quicker than 15s due to the 40s and 20" of lift.

Didn't know if he had been to another track or had any ETs from another source.

yeah no **** they're different monsters. but with good tires a gto is running high 12's STOCK. low 13's on street tires and a good driver. they also have unbelievable top end. whether it be the 04 with the ls1, or the 05/06 with the ls2. both would kill your mustang. even with your mods.
and what do you run in the 1/4 mile? i havent seen you post any time slips.

i was just saying, for a diesel to beat a gto, is a pretty big deal. and did tre state what z06 it is? because first of all, the c6 z06 is 11's stock, not tens. and if it was a c5, those are in the 12's. keep in mind this is all with a good driver. its totally believable that the duramax coulda beat a z06. on the street anything can happen.

Remember, you are dealing with a Mustang owner... and you gotta also remember, their crap smells like a fresh mountain breeze and they are god....

OH, Let me bring this up. I just got a call from my buddy. He was racing all day long. He just won the event. Guess what he drives? No, it's not a Mustang. No, it's not a Duramax. No, it's not a PSD, it's a 1979 Ford F250 with a $1200 Ford Shortblock 400 running 16's! Guess what else! The runner up... was his girlfriend... in her commuter car, a 19 second Corolla! Semi finals, guess what, they beat 12 second cars... BOTH of em!

I've seen with my own eyes a sub 10sec street legal diesel pickup. Trevor...care to back me up with that claim???? F-it...i've got vids on my harddrive to prove this somehwere. On top of that, dozens of 11sec and 12sec street legal cummins, strokers, and max's at my local strips.

Why are we argueing about diesel vs mustang....WHERE THE HELL did the whole mustang even get involved in this thread? z06? Did it all start with 03bamaGT?
