Sold the Level II... Into an SVT Raptor!

Well, what a ridicilous whirlwind of a year for vehicles this has been:

2008 Sport Trac Adrenalin
2010 Focus SES Sedan
2007 Ranger FX4 Level II
2010 SVT Raptor 6.2

I have to say, this is one badass truck. I've driven them on a test drive, I've ridden in the Bull Run Rally orange one in NYC, I fell in love with it when it was still a concept...

AND NOW I HAVE MY OWN!

I traded in the Ranger the day before I left Michigan, didn't even really intend to do so! I went to look at a crew cab, 5.5" bed FX4 F-150 at this one dealer and it was really nice. Up front, though, they had a blazingly clean Tuxedo Black Raptor with Nav, Sunroof, Sony Stereo, Luxury package and a rearview camera staring at me... with a $48,000 price tag.

"There's no way, Dad..." I said to him. "No way am I going to go into that much debt..."

Well, about 4 hours later and a bunch of wheelin' and dealing, I walked outta there with the following:

$16,000 for the Ranger
The Raptor for $1,500 over invoice
7 year / 100,000 mile PremiumCare warranty for $1,200
Free Bedliner
Free Simoniz paint sealant
Free tank of gas

I was out of control enthusiastic! I put down $7,500 on the Raptor, had to deal with around $2,200 negative on the Ranger -- but that's ok. I'll overcome that in a jiffy.

All in all, I financed $43,000 and change. I absolutely LOVE this thing. Looking at it. Driving it. Romping on it. Cleaning it. Just everything.

I've never been as excited to drive anything since I first got the Mach1. I guess I've found my two vehicles for my next long long while.

Good thing that the Mach is paid off... I can start all over again with this one.

It looks like an awesome truck man! Black would be my absolutely last choice though as I would definitely be using that thing off road.
Otherwise that is a lot of money to be using as a pavement pounder.

I just got to drive one of the 6.2L trucks a couple weeks ago and really liked it. Can't wait to hear how this guy works out for ya!

Damn, thats sweet. With spending that much on a vehicle I'd be afraid to use it as anything but a pavement pounder, but those things were built for offroad, more so than the level II rangers.

Hope he enjoys the $600+ a month payment.
I Bet anything, that before August of 2011 he will have a thread entitled: "SOLD THE RAPTOR. If someone talks about going into debt, then goes $43,000 into debt, He doesn't have any money. Matt, anyone with any substantial amount of money, NEVER uses the word "Debt" when questioning wether they should purchase something.

Whats it matter its what he wants.... As long as he isnt on welfare and food stamps and he is paying for it himself i dont see what the deal is

Very nice man! I almost bought an '03 Mach a couple years back, but then the seller changed his mind. Had a Raptor out a couple weeks ago as well.... both are awesome vehicles that I would love to own, and will someday!

LOL @ being jealous. How do you know his financial situation? You don't. So keep your gay mouth shut.

I detect some jealousy as well.

I don't want a $600 truck payment, but if he does and he can afford it, who cares? It is his own money (I'm assuming?).
When I sold cars, I had several customers buy new Super Duty trucks and walk out with $600-800 payments. Granted these people made pretty good money, but it isn't all that uncommon. For me though, to have that kind of payment, I would be using the truck to it's full potential. That means for a super duty, I would only pay that if I was frequently towing/hauling a bunch of weight. For the Raptor, I would be hitting the desert/dunes.
But again, to each his own. I would love to have that truck.

On a side note, the payments between my wife's car and my truck are $25 less than our rent every month, and could easily make a house payment on a place here. If I were living somewhere rent free, I could go buy a new raptor and a super duty, but I wouldn't.

i agree with you brian, then entire reason i traded my car in for my ranger was because i felt that if i was going to be paying the money for it....why not drive what i REALLY wanted to drive? sure the gas mileage of the Aveo was AMAZING (lol) but i knew exactly what i was getting into when i went for the truck.

I must say thats the first all black Raptor Ive seen. Most Raptors Ive seen have that sticker along the side of it and just kills it for me. That Mach looks good with the cobra front end and the deep dish fatties on the rear
