Nice truck but thats insane debt to go into for a truck. By the time its paid off it would be worth half of what its worth. 'A person could take that money and invest it in a house/property and when the economy comes back it might double in value.

A house is immobile, cant take you places while his truck can do both; take him places and live in. A DD isn't an investment. This is America where all your dreams come true with credit

ill be the first to rain on your win parade and say wow financing 43k just to get a raptor and i do mean just a raptor. way over priced and under equipped not even a true desert rig just a f150 with a body kit fox shocks and some clever marketing. would have been cheaper to get a xlt and have it truely LT'd and ready for the desert.

your money though so congrats on your new toy and glad you enjoy so immensely

You will be hard pressed to find the equally equipped (not even considering the suspension and body panels) for 40k brand new. Trucks are very high priced now.

I'm sure my thread will look very similar to this when I go $50,000 in debt for a 201? Camaro Z28. Except everyone with be Chevy hatin' to.

Congrats on your purchase (I think you are the first regular on here to get a Raptor, or if not, the first to get a 6.2L.

Also congrats on making the adult choice to spend your money the way you want to and do what you want to do responsible or not. You can't take it with you when you die. Spend it and support the economy.

Look, guys and gals...

I've been on this board since it's creation. I have had 4 Rangers in my past, met a ton of great people from this site and friends that I still talk to, meet up with and respect. Alot of the replies on here are from people that are new to the site since I've been here all the time. Some of the 'new' people to me, might be 'old-school' members to you all.

I don't want anyone bashing anyone, but I do appreciate all the effort and time that was taken to post your thoughts about the truck. Remember what Mom said? "If you can't say anything nice, then dont say anything at all..."

Granted, not everything was not nice. Some of it was discussion. Some of it was not. Here are my replies, but the bottom line is; I have the Raptor. You do not. I have the money to spend on it. You may or may not. I chose to buy a $50,000 truck instead of a down payment on a house. I don't care if you think it was stupid.

Anyway, enjoy the thread. I'll have my popcorn ready.

You sir, have to much money/debt.
Well, let's see... Most dealers, at least here in the MD/DC/VA area are charging a $5,000 market adjustment on these trucks. The latest one I have seen was a fully loaded Molten Orange with every option. Sticker was $50,535, + the $5k ADM, came out to $55k. Mine was $48k, got a deal on it for $41. Add in that I owed $18k on the Ranger and got $16k for it (where dealers here were offering me $14k), a 72 month/100,000 mile warranty, and I think I did pretty well. Thanks.

Definitely. I plan on using it as a DD until I move early net year to either Texas or California. Someplace where this truck will be able to be used more off-road than in the concrete jungle of DC.

I Bet anything, that before August of 2011 he will have a thread entitled: "SOLD THE RAPTOR. If someone talks about going into debt, then goes $43,000 into debt, He doesn't have any money. Matt, anyone with any substantial amount of money, NEVER uses the word "Debt" when questioning wether they should purchase something.
Who the hell are you? I used the word debt in a mature sense in a conversation with my Father. That, being that I wouldn't "...go into $48k of debt.." is a more mature way of saying, "I ain't payin' 48 thousand for that thing!". I would apologize that my lexicon threw you off. I will not be posting a thread in a year from now saying how I sold the Raptor. Instead, I will most likely be posting pictures of my travels off road, into the Baja in Cali or off into the middle-of-nowhere in Texas. I could care less what you think, but you don't know me. Do I sense some envy? If you're so financially set in your life, go get one and then toss your "PAID FOR" thread in my face. It won't change anything regarding me at all. The Mach was $22,000 and I paid it off in a year and a half. Double the amount and time and you're close to the Raptor being paid-off. Three year pay-off? Possibly. I might use the money and buy a house.

But actually, thanks for your post and opinion. I enjoy reading all of them from all sorts of people.

Insurance is actually $12 dollars more a year than the Ranger.

When I sold cars, I had several customers buy new Super Duty trucks and walk out with $600-800 payments. Granted these people made pretty good money, but it isn't all that uncommon. For me though, to have that kind of payment, I would be using the truck to it's full potential. That means for a super duty, I would only pay that if I was frequently towing/hauling a bunch of weight. For the Raptor, I would be hitting the desert/dunes.
But again, to each his own. I would love to have that truck.

On a side note, the payments between my wife's car and my truck are $25 less than our rent every month, and could easily make a house payment on a place here. If I were living somewhere rent free, I could go buy a new raptor and a super duty, but I wouldn't.
I am not living anywhere that is rent free. I live in the National Capital Region; where a broken down shack is expensive. It is my own money, I bought it on my own, paying for it on my own and I am doing what I want to do with the money I make. I STILL am tossing $2,500 into savings monthly. That add's up to $30,000 a year in cash, saved, mine. Everyone needs to relax and just stop being idiots.

Absolutely. When you see your father almost die a few times and spring back into life, you realize just how sudden and fast life can be taken from you. I was happy with the Sport Trac. I liked the Focus. I enjoyed the Level II again. But I wanted a Raptor. I got one. I'm alive and living and I will enjoy life to the fullest until my heart of gold stops beating. (know the song?)

Thanks! I surely didn;t want the graphics on the side, and especially not for $1,200 bucks!

You're absolutely correct. But if you drive the vehicle until it stops and then drive it some more -- it's money well spent. I'll buy a house when I have a reason to. I'm a single guy, so I don;t need a house.

America lives on credit, true to a certain extent. Mine is perfect, as I make intelligent choices regarding my finances. Hence why I can buy a Raptor.

I didn't want the Orange seats, center stack and door accents. Although I liked it, I think that staring at Orange all day long would get old after a while. Same with the Orange paint. I originally wanted Blue, but got the Black becuase there is no sweeter a color (when clean) than Black.

I agree; I love black when it's clean. Although the hard part is keeping it clean. A black vehicle would stay clean for about 30 minutes around here.

I'm kind of holding out for the SuperCrew version. Although the new 5.0 Mustang's are pretty tempting as well. The vehicle I have now rarely moves so that's my real hesitation, which is why I said, "kind of". I'd hate to pay that much for a vehicle I only drive on the weekends. I sometimes even regret spending so much money on my Ranger since it just sits there too. I go back and forth so much it's not even funny. Who knows though, I might end up with one too.

Since I didn’t say it, Congrats!
