solid axle swap

hey guys i have a 86 ranger 4x4 im looking into doing a sas i dont know much on how to do it but with some help i can manage first off if anyone could give me just a short list of the essentials that i need and what axle is best to use im only gunna run like 33 inch tires max so i was gonna go with a dana 30 from a jeep let me know what you think

A general rule we have for SAS..the information is on this forum (in old threads...you can search) and you need to do the reading yourself. I could potentially tell you a lot of what is needed but there is lots of diff variations.

Also, not to detract from ranger-forums.comm but since you have an older ranger, you would find better information on therangerstation.com. This site tends to focus on 93+ rangers quite often more.


Everyone wants to do an SAS, but very few actually do it. Once you have researched some other people's paths, you can come back and go "Okay so I see that blah blah is common...what specific year do I need to look for?" or questions like that.
