Someone wanted to buy my truck

I was standing behind the counter at the gas station where I work part time when a guy in his late 40's came in. I was ringing up customer so he waited for me to get done and then he asked me:

'Hey, do you want to sell your ford Ranger?'
I said, 'What?'
He repeated, 'Do you want to sell your Ranger?'
I said, 'No. There's no way I'm getting rid of my truck. I love it.'

I should have asked me how much he'd give me for it, but I didn't. He walked out less happy then when he walked in. Made me feel good anyway.

Just thought I'd share.

Tys 4x4 FTW 12-20-2008 06:27 PM

yeah you shoulda found out how much lol

for the right price, i'd get rid of my ranger in a heartbeat and upgrade to something else.

Trigger01 12-20-2008 06:30 PM

I wouldn't get rid of mine for anything. It's got a good bit of sentimental value to it that no other truck could have. My grandmother bought my truck for me and she died a few years ago so...

99ranger4x4 12-20-2008 06:31 PM

I'd sell mine for 10 grand ha.

that would by the truck i want in cash and enough left over for 'zuk to start building.

I had some guys drive by a while ago, BL and 33s when we were building the skid plate, i told them 10k and they walked away.

crazymikey 12-20-2008 07:11 PM

If your truck goes missing in the night, you know the first guy to go after.

Attachment 181488
had a kid hit me up on AOL messenger, asked if I still had my Bu, said "ya", asked if I wanted to sell it, I said hadn't thought bout it, but for right $, I'd think bout it.....he asked me for a price, I shot him a price I thought would scare him off.........but NOOOO, he asked for directions from LC, shows up with his Daddy on Sat. afternoon & hands me my price................

I said "well, time to move onto the next project".............
90 Mustang Coupe
Attachment 181489
Which I sold to build my current 94 Ranger.................

crazymikey 12-20-2008 08:28 PM

..so what was "the right price"? THat Malibu looks like it fetched a pretty penny.

82racin 12-20-2008 08:31 PM

idk i love mustangs but that malibu is sooooooooo nice

I had a guy offer to trade 3 fullsize trucks for my ranger once, all the trucks were as new as mine, I told him 'No.'

Mainly because the truck is my first and it's 'my' truck, there's not another truck like it, not to me anyway.

The fact that the other trucks were Chevy's also played a part in it. lol

Machine090767 12-20-2008 11:34 PM

you know, i always go to a gas station to buy my vehicles... this guy sounds like a nut job.

0RangerEdge2 12-20-2008 11:49 PM

I'm glad someone pointed that out.

I realized how much I'd miss my truck if I let it go. I was going to trade it in, but now I decided that my down payment on a new car is lift money!

If someone who REALLY wanted the B4K offered me anything more than $3,500, I would take it. Because I will never get anything more than that if I sell it to the average Joe.

Then it'd be time for my 5.0 Explorer ;)

08XLT4x4 12-21-2008 12:38 AM

I woulda said $24k, enough for a 2009 FX4! When it comes to vehicles, sentimental value doesnt mean squat to me lol

Goodysgotacuda 12-21-2008 07:34 AM

Never say "No", still waitin on the right price for my 'Cuda. Everything has that magic number attached to it..

Melt 12-21-2008 09:19 PM

pretty sure they stopped making extra cabs with 4cyl in 97.

robert99ranger 12-22-2008 09:28 AM

It is a good feeling when someone asks you if your vehicle is forsale. Had the same thing happen to me with my old 69 F100. Told him no. Then I ended up selling it 4-6 months later.

Johnbaum13 12-22-2008 09:46 AM

When I was building the motor for my Ghia, had a guy pull up in the driveway and offer me 3k for the rolling chassis. I said heck no, I need something to put this motor in! Sold that thing for 4200 with a blown stocker motor in it a couple of months ago. Now building a '63 Ghia.

Jimmeh 12-22-2008 11:17 AM

Somebody on here offered me $800 for my truck as is.

I told him $2500, to which he loled.

Once it's fixed, the price goes back to $5K. I wouldn't sell it for less, and I don't want to sell it.

Who offered you $800?? I think $2500 is a little to much but $800 might be a little low.

jrpro130 12-22-2008 08:45 PM

It wouldn't take much for me to sell my truck...lol a little above BB value. I want a 150 or a newer ranger :)
