Putting Hella 500ff behind the grill
I just acquired a set and easily took off the grill of my '03 Edge.
I am POSITIVE I've seen a how-to on how to mount these bastards, but I can't find it any more. Searching comes up with lots of other threads, but none have detailed pics I can use.
Any help?
Thankz.

And you still are able to state the obvious. It's amazing.
I'm looking for the answer to WHERE behind the grill. My oil cooler is in the way on the passenger side and the fiberglass skeleton doesn't seem wide enough to drill some holes, mount the lights, and still be able to re-attach the grill assembly.

I didn't get exact measurements when I did it, but I wanted to mount mine as far to the side as I could.
Here's how I determined where to mount it. I took half the diameter of the light and measured from the far left (or right) side of the radiator shroud and drilled the hole.
To make it simple, 3.5 inches from the side.
That's how I did it, obviously you could make it a little different depending on the look you're after

I hung mine upside down behind the grille. I measured about 5 1/2 from the center post, drilled through the fiber glass support, then bored it out to fit a socket wrench. I like it alot and it's a very quick mod. You will have to shave down the plastic shroud attached to the center to fit a socket on the adjuster bolts.

Do you notice the lights bouncing around due to mounting it to the fiberglass?

Thank you to both for replying with something useful. :-)

My oil cooler did not interfere with placement. I still have room in between them.
The only time I notice the light bouncing is when I get on a really rough gravel road, other than that they stay still. Even on a rough gravel road they don't bounce very much, just a slight vibration in the light beam.

Thank you Hooligan and 01RangerEdge.... I mounted mine today. I completely remove the shroud though, and I mounted it upside-down but farther apart than hooligan's, but not as far as 01RangerEdge's.
This is freakin' awesome! The wiring will be started either tomorrow orFriday, depending on my work schedule.

This is the only picture I took. I had a fun time trying to find a 17mm deep socket, so I used an 18mm deep socket to tighten the lights to the fiberglass skeleton. lmao
I also had fun looking for my 1.5" drill bit, but I gave up after 1/2 hour, so I used a 1" bit, which is the width of my sockets. THAT was fun trying to drill the top perfectly. lmao

WIRING QUESTION:
There is a green wire that goes from the switch and according to the wiring diagram, you have to splice it into the high-beam wire. This is so that the lights do not illuminate while the high beams are on...
...but who da **** wants that?!?!?!? lol
So, where did you connect that green wire?

i check ed how mine is wired, my switch is the middle wire yellow(trigger) the bottom wire(or top, can't remember) is grounded to the body, and the other is going to the gray/black on the headlight. mine are triggered on by the high beams. the switch is under the hood and is really just a master cutoff for my hellas. if that helps.
