Spare tire mount

I posted a thread not too long ago about how to lower the spare tire contraption under my 2000 Ranger in order to mount my full-size spare. I bought my truck used, and I came to find today when I went to try to put the spare under, using the information I got both from the owner's manual I downloaded and those who replied to my previous thread, I did not have the proper tools to lower the wire.

I went over to a junkyard and found a Ranger within the same range of production, and luckily enough I found another piece of the jack set that comes with my Ranger which I did not receive when I bought mine. I tried it once again, to no avail. I am still, apparently, missing a piece.

So, I'm asking the Ranger experts a new question: what do you suggest I do from here? Should I try to buy a new OEM jack set that will come with the tools I need, or can I lower and raise the wire some other way? Or, alternately, is there another convenient way to store a spare? Leaving it in the bed is probably not going to cut it; my spare tire is bald and sits on a crummy rim, but I don't put it past the people in my neighborhood to steal it anyway.

I'm looking forward to any replies, and thanks for your time.

You need 5 pieces. Three "extension bars" with square ends and lock-***** on one end. One bar with a hook on the end, which you only use to turn the nut on the jack, and a lug wrench. The lug wrench has a square hole in the middle to insert the end of the extension poles into. This is used as a lever to "screw" the poles while the other end is settled into the pulley under the truck. It may tack some effort to break it free, but it's just a basic pulley and cable winch.

Thanks for the info. My truck came with the hydraulic jack and only one of the three extension pieces. I acquired a kit lug wrench from another Ranger but it did not have the hole in it.

I will look into trying to buy a brand new set of these, unless someone here knows that that cannot be done for some reason.

The image I posted was from an Ebay listing. Do a quick search on Ebay if all else fails. I would assume a Ranger at the junkyard would have the whole set.

I would think some one on here would have one you could have. My 33" won't fit anymore under their and my dual exhaust blocks it off as well. I am sure there are many others don't use it as well. I will look and see if I still have mine lying around (might have already done something with it.) If I can find it, I can send you the pieces you need.

I checked a junkyard already, and I ended up with a non-matching lug wrench. I got it from a 1997 Ranger XLT I believe. That was the only piece from the set that they had.

I would appreciate that very much. Keep in touch and let me know what's up. In the mean time I will check eBay.
