Speaker Static

I have a 1998 ranger that constant speaker static even when the ignition is off and key removed. It is getting to the point where it drains the battery. It has all stock components. Any help would be appreciated.

1998 Basic Radio wiring diagram here: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...dio_Wiring.pdf

1998 Premium Radio diagram here: https://therangerstation.com/tech_li...dio_Wiring.pdf

The premium sound system had a separate amplifier that got full time power, fuse #22 in engine fuse box

I/P fuse box means cab fuse box, I/P is instrument panel, just FYI

I would pull out fuses until static cuts off that will tell you where to start hunting for the problem.
It will be either the Radio unit or the separate amplifier issue NOT wiring, so you will need to replace one or the other

In the premium system the Radio unit turns on the separate amp, so while the amp may be making the noise it could be the Radio unit is "telling it" to do so.
So you would need to unplug the radio wires and leave amp powered up to see if amp is the problem, or if radio is making amp the problem
