I think the dealer can recalibrate the speedo for up to 31" tires on a ranger. For anything over that you need to get a SCT custom tuner. You can get the tuner through the vendors on this site.

Your screen name implies that you may have a 96 and an 03. Which speedo are you trying to correct? The method is different between the 2 years.

The 03

The dealership can do it, but man it is a long process. I know you can change gears on certain models. I heard there was a shop on 59 in Waterford that did but I haven't found a name yet.

Speed O

What size tires are you running and what year is your trucK?

2003 would like to run 32's or 33's currently have stock 245/75/16. if I dont jump in tire size just going to go with 285/70/16 for now. (Stock Suspension)I put that about 3 miles an hour differance

I may drop down to 15 inch wheels for cost purposes.

245/75R16's are very close to the same diameter as "31" BFG AT's.

For 2003, a Ford dealer can calibrate the PCM for tires up to 31's but no larger. Beyond that, you'd need an inline speedo recal box or a flash tuner like an Xcalibrator.

Thanks

Attempting to get a list of winter projects for the truck. I called several trans shops if I go w/33's but nobody is aware of any shops to recalibrate it. Seems like a tuner is the way go.

I had a crown vic w/4.10s once. Found two places. One was on woodward (they specialize in nothing but speedos). And another place was in Dearborn Heights.

The place on woodward.. it was roughly 5 miles north of 696 and on the east side of the road. Can't remember the name to save my life.

I calibrated mine with the WDS when I worked for Ford. It took about 15 minutes to do. So if you're not going wild with tire size they can do it on a newer truck.

I don't remeber exactly.. but it's on the east side of woodward and a few miles north of 696. Just don't remember how far north it was. Shop has been there for quite some time and speedo correction is what they specialize in.
