Hi im new and need some advice

hello all, my names steve and i drive a 2000 4.0L OHV v6 4x4 xlt, had the truck for 3.5 years now, rolled it 2 years ago and have been fixing stuff ever since. i finally got all the mechanical and cosmetic stuff fixed and now am ready to start on some mods.

i want to start out on the exhaust and drop in some headers. i was wondering whats everyones opinion on the best aftermarket exhaust to put in, be it a cat-back, from the heads back or ?, also what are the best types of heads to drop in and are heads worth it for boosting mpgs and over all performance.

thanks in advance everyon and happy trails
Steve

I'll transfer you to customer service...........couple options you have here. 1. search around the forum and see what other people like 2. go on youtube and search ford ranger 4.0 exhaust or something like that. its all about personal preference when it comes to making the decision.

I'd go with a Magnaflow SI/SO set-up. And, welcome.

thanks for the replies everyone, loving the comedy! been doing some research and it seems like the magnaflow that was mentioned here and the flowmaster delta 40 keep coming up are those mufflers a bolt on or would i have to have a shop weld them in place

Not really bolt in. I suppose if the muffler is the same length as the stock muffler it would be. Just have a shop do it. It shouldn't cost much if you're just replacing the muffler

what he said, muffler shops the way to go. its inexpensive and they do a good job (atleast where i frequent) Plus they'll usually do custom bending if you want to change the look of your exhaust.
