Heli-coil it.
You'll blow the plug right out if you don't

this is why you start the threads by hand.

And most importantly, if you pull the plugs out of a warm engine that has aluminum heads, don't reef on the ratchet when you're putting them back in. A light snug down is all.

Cold aluminum heads, medium snug down on the spark plugs.

On a cast iron head, don't get all fussy, just put them in and snug them down well.

the hole can be welded up and remachined... or a new head. i personaly have never buggered up spark plug threads... but i have buggered up a few other holes in my lifetime.
a "time-sert" would be my first choice as its cheaper. and "I" would take the head off to do it, it can be done while on the motor. time-serts and heli-coils require drilling and tapping, plus the "tang" on the end of the heli-coil needs popped off. this alot safer to do head in hand.
good luck grasshopper!
