anyone have a website (that is updated for 2007) that has all the laws and stuff for lifts/tires and what not? i cant seem to find one, well at least updated.

What state do you live in?

i would say unless you dont see any lifted trucks.. dont bother, the cop will have to be in a really bad mood to get you on that stuff..

at least here.. im sure my truck and most of the lifted trucks in Texas are illigally lifted in someway lol

Hmmm? Guess they have nothing better in Maine than to right up regulations? But then again they are only as good as the enforcement. RI has a bunch of regs but you never see people getting tickets. Maybe they save it for when someone is a smart ass so they can hand them a 4 page ticket?

Hints and tips regarding state laws....

Remember at all times that these laws were written by beurocrats. What could be summed up in one normal sentance will be drawn out into four or five overstated run-on sentances per paragraph. You should read it several times because thats what it will take for a non-beurocrat to fully grasp what it is trying to say. Then read it again the next day just to make sure. If there is a search function on the website, use it because the same regulations could be references in several different statutes. On that note, do not be surprised if one statute contradicts another one.

After reading all that, you should print the relevent sections out and keep them in your glove box. This will be of assitance in an encounter with the law or if you have to go through a DMV inspection. Speaking of DMV inspections, if you have to do that, then you should stop by and find out what they look for. Don't be surprised if it is different than the state law. I know, its stupid but we aren't talking about the sharpest tools in the shed here. Thats why they are politicians and DMV inspectors.

A few California-specific laws not mentioned in the chart linked above:

cvc 24400(1)- Headlights must be 22-54" off the ground
cvc 24402(a)- Auxiliary driving lamps, if used, must be 16-42" off the ground
cvc 24403(b)- Fog lamps, if used, must be 12-30" off the ground
cvc 24600(f)- Taillamps must be 15-72" off the ground
cvc 24607(d)- Required rear red reflectors must be 15-60" off the ground
cvc 24609(a)- Any white or amber front reflectors must be 15-60" off the ground
