Steel tube painting?

Okay so we've almost got my prerunner bumper built and i want to paint it with something thats going to be very drurable. I was thinking about painting it with truck bed coating (not the textured kind) that we sell at my work ( i work at Kragen Autoparts) and my question was, do i just have to sand it down and start painting? Or is there more preperation into painting the steel tubing?

Sanding it down a bit and applying an adhesion promoter would be my own first step.. make sure you clean it VERY well with some alcohol based cleaner before you put anything on it after you sand it.. get any oils off you can, after the adhesion promoter is on, go ahead and start coating away with your coat of choice =)
