Anybody that has a ranger with stock suspension and regular size tires 235's/245's, i was wondering about how well they do off roading?

I drove my stock tires to the ground in one summer working on a ranch, other than having flats every day, they did good and never had a problem.

Its not a fact of suspension but those pieces of **** stock tires that will kill you offroading. Plain and simple, BUY NEW TIRES if you intend to even do light offroading!

my truck is bone stock and i do some crazy stuff. theres a few here that have met me and see what i do.

tires help.
whits help alot.
lifts+tires+whits= some crazy offorading in a 2wd.

course you left out if your 4x4 or 4x2

I have 235's and stock suspension. I do fine off roading. I know my limits, sometimes I test them and prevail and other times I fail. It's not necessarily the size of the tire or suspension, but knowing how to drive in & through whatever you are attempting.

I've been thru some pretty crazy stuff with the stock tires. I thought there was no way in hell i was getting out but sure enough the Ranger came thru in the end. I've yet to get stuck with the stock tires. But i'll but upgrading soon so i'm sure i'll see a huge change.

so then even without a lift and bigger tires it is still pretty formadable off road cause even the best off road driver couldn't take a honda civic rock crawling if you catch my drift.

So you have 4wd....about the tires...you dont have to go much bigger if you dont want to but look at some all terrians in you size...or mud terrians if you mud mostly offroad..

I climbed a hill this afternoon that is loose sand/rock/dirt, with a turn at the end. I used 4x4 every previous attempt on this hill, but today was the 1st go on my bfg a/ts. No problems whatsoever in 2wd, I'm pretty impressed with these tires.

Are you sticking to the stock size? What kind of rubber is on there now?

did you go with 31s???

31's wouldn't fit under it without raisning t-bars or getting it lifted so it will have to be 245's. Right now ive got some goodyear mtz or something for street use.

first, dont listen to the tire guys when it comes to what tires will fit. Most of them dont know wtf their talking about. Like everyone told me, i could in no way fit 265/70/16's on my truck, itll rub to all hell and back and be a disaster. I have stock hieght, didnt crank my t bars, and i got 265/70/16's my stock tire is 245/75/16 u can squeaze 265/75/16 on a stock truck, with out any real issues. go bigger than that and u gotta crack the tbars. but the 265/75's were $15 more per tire when i got mine, so i got the 265/70's for $90 a tire. General Grabber AT2's sweet tire.

yeah but since my parents "own" the truck my dad's kinda anal retentive when it come to putting stuff on. So he said no to raising t-bars and getting 265/75/16.

That's too bad you couldn't get the 265's cause they fit without any problems without a lift but you can do just as much with the 245's

what tires are those? i like them a lot and you say they fit with just a t-bar crank? and what is the exact size? 265/75/16?


oh and I went offroading in my truck and its bone stock. I did fine climbing a thick mud covered hill spinning the tires through third gear.

and mines 2wd teehee
