Stripper Caliper Bracket Bolt

I was replacing my brakes today and my passenger side lower caliper bracket bolt is now stripped out. A year ago I had a shop replace my wheel bearing on that side (I was in a hurry). Knowing this shop, I'm sure they impacted the hell out of the bolt. I used a 25 inch breaker bar and it ended up stripping the bolt (6 point socket was used). I have a set of bolt extractors and they aren't working out too well. This bolt has to be on with a torque well over 150 ft/lbs.

So is there a way to get this bolt out or am I gonna have to get another spindle?

I had to use a 5 point on mine because it was stripped. If you weld you could get a different bolt head on there.

Weld a all-thread coupling to it with a common bolt head size, soak it in PB/blaster, and heat it up a bit, then put an impact on it.

I got a lincoln 110V flux core welder so looks like thats gonna get the dust knocked off of it tonight. When welding on the vehicle frame should you disconnect the battery?

As for the all-thread coupling, is that because of the longer head?

Yeah so you can put a deep socket on it.

And yes disconnect the battery.

Well I guess my welding skills aren't up to par yet ( only had my welder for a few months and have barely got to learn how to use it). I tried to add another bolt head to it, but I couldn't get one side of it ( could have been my problem). Kept ripping off.

So I ended up cutting the head off and grinding what I could down to remove the bracket. DAMN Grade 8 bolts! I ended up giving up and I think I'm just gonna go to the local pull-A-part and get another spindle assembly. Only around 20 bucks.

It is ok to grap a used spindle right?

Yep, just make sure it's mot bent or anything. If there is crash damage to that side of vehicle don't take it

I had one get stuck like that. 1" impact worked like a charm

I have one from my old 01 if it helps. I sold one side to someone on here, not sure what side it was though......but if you let me know which side you need I can check.

I ended up using a cut off tool to get the head off and using a grinder to grind down the brim of it to where it was thin enough to pound it out. Ended up breaking the caliper bracket but I got another one for 6 bucks.

Thanks anyways.
