I sold my stock stereo on Ebay. ANyone know if an item is shipped and it has insurance, but no tracking number, if it doesnt arrive, is it covered with the insurance?

 

if you insure it is should come with a tracking number, as far as i know at least

 

yes, it should be. sometimes USP isnt always on their game.

Well, I shipped it last Weds, but it was Priority Mail and should have arrived in CA.

 

Nope. IF you ship it USPS, and its over 13 ounces, it automatically is upgraded because of its weight. Priority mail is a 2-3 day service, not garunteed. If you don't specifically ask for insurance, or purchased it, you don't have it. USPS does not provide tracking numbers unless you send it Express mail. When you ship UPS it automatically comes with 100 insurance and a tracking number. You should ship it UPS because of this, also in most cases UPS is always cheaper when it comes to a package as oppose to a letter. The number you are assigned from USPS that comes with you when you insure a package with them is NOT a tracking number. Also, getting a refund for a lost or damaged insured package with USPS could take as long as 6 months, if not longer.

Should have shipped it UPS everything is insured up to $100 automaticly and then it cost more for more insurance and UPS garantees delivery.

 

Actually, only Next Day Air, Second Day Air, and 3 Day Select are garunteed. Ground it only gaurnteed to certain locations and is not always backed by a money back garuntee like NDA or 2DA. Ground for example, would be a garunteed service if I sent a box to Houston ( Im in Dallas) UPS insurance runs 35 cents per hundred at a UPS Counter, The UPS Stroes usually charge one Dollar per hundred. International UPS is never garunteed.

 

Well, I have never had bad luck with USPS and the Post Office is like 1 minute from my job. Now, there is a UPS store next tot he Post Office, but they have always priced more than USPS.

I acutally work at a UPS Store and have for almost 3 years, hence why i know so dam much about it. Also, I load trailers at night at the ups hub. Ups has no markups at ups stores, they are the counter rates. Trust me, shipping boxes at the post office compared to ups ground, ups is always cheaper and the way to go.

 

I am a 2 year hup rat out of Tampa but now I am a cover Driver for Tampa. nice to know there are other Upsers on this site.

 

Then why was it going to cost me almost 212 Dollars to ship my factory wheels and tires through UPS Ground at a UPS store, but when i went to the Post Office, I shipped them for 80 dollars Parcel Post? AND on top of that, the prices quoted to me on the UPS site vs. what was quoted to me in the store was WAY off. UPS needs to figure out what prices they want to use. And before you say that i may have entered the dimensions wrong, I didnt. I double checked.

 

because you pay for what you get! so how did you get around their weight limit? parcel post is slow as **** and offers no accountability for it. on the ups site and in the store they are usually off. thats ups's problem, usually due to a residential or busniess delivery or a fuel surchage or different insurance costs. however, 75% of the time you typed something in wrong on the website that you dont even realize. did you put them in a box or send the tires as is strapped togher?

 

Volumetric weight always bugged me. I tried to ship a model plane once. It weighed nothing but was a very long box. Damn thing was going to cost more to ship than to buy a new plane.

 

USPS weight limit is 75 pounds. I shipped all four tires seperate. 20 bucks each tire and 2 dollars each for insurance. They also have a size restraint too. was able to make it under that... barely. Anyways, parcel post made it there in 5 days. Mailed it Moday and all four tires were there Friday. Centercaps and lugnuts (mailed monday also) arrived Saturday.

As for UPS, i tried both ways. Strapped together (had to divide it in two because all four together was too much weight) and also tried all four mailed seperately and UPS was showing about 120 dollars shipping like that. But when i took it to the UPS store here in Cedar Hill, it was going to cost me over 200 bucks.

 

Tell the guy to go down to his post office and see if the package is there. The people that work for USPS suck, and don't like to leave notices that things have come in. I will always ship my stuff with UPS because you get a tracking number no matter what, and you can see where it is. With USPS it is one big crap shoot, and you usally lose. It is worth the extra money IMHO.

I had my 18"s with tires shipped from florida to texas and it cost 150. If your tires got lost or damaged with USPS, you would change your mind. They do not like to give refunds, we have been working on a claim with them since november 04. all kinds of waiting periods etc. BS ! Like i said, you pay for what you get!

 

As for paying for what you get I couldn't have said it any better!!

 

Well, I havent had any problems yet. I will see. I just think its taking a tad longer to get there. We will see.
