Subs and Rearview Camera
 

Hey all, I'm looking to install some subwoofers in my truck. There's folding chairs for the back seats so I was thinking of putting the box and amp back there. Any recommendations on good subs that come at a good price?

Also, I'm interested in putting a rearview camera for backing out/into parking spaces, any suggestions on what camera/screen is the best to use?

Subwoofer box needs to be designed for the speaker or the speaker needs to be designed for the box

In order to make the long sound waves required for low frequency you need a larger speaker cone, but if the "box" is too small then it can't make those waves or some of waves are cancelled.
So figure out how much room you are willing to give up to a subwoofer(you only need one) and then design the box that will fit and the best speaker for that box size.

Audio Wattage is misleading
2 watts is NOT twice as loud as 1 watt
It is 1/10th as loud
So if you want twice as loud as 1 watt you need 10 watts

This is why 20 watt per channel sound systems are fine inside cars/trucks
And if you wanted twice as loud you would need 200 watts per channel, NOT 40 watts, you wouldn't even notice a difference with 40 watts.

Same for subwoofers in cars, 250 watts is plenty, going to 500 watts(1/10th louder) or even 1,000 watts(4/10ths louder) wouldn't make any difference you wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
2,500 watts would be twice as loud
It is silly but watts for car audio is about bragging rights, thats it, so save your money



Decide where the camera will be placed first, back of cab or back of truck.
Then decide wired or wireless, wired is more reliable and you still need to wire in power for wireless, so most choose wired.
But wireless does work fine and any temporary interference is just that temporary, this isn't a security camera that needs 24/7 connection, it is just used when you back up.

Then you have the Monitor screen, need a place to put it, and again this is only used to backup, so maybe .5% of the time you are driving, lol.
It should be out of the way but view-able when needed
Many choose rear view mirror monitor, so replace mirror.

i just installed a pioneer 10" enclosure. sounds phenominal, as for an amp, i recommend a kenwood x500-1 as that is whats powering my sub right now. ill post themlink here to my thread, pictures are the URL's in the post.

You can buy back up crammers that are designed to work with your cell phone as a screen. That is the way I would go.
