I was driving earlier today with the windows down and started to miss my sunroof from my other car.. I never like to use the AC in my truck.. or car, or cars. i just dont like to use AC at all.. but the truck only draws so much air into it.. has anyone ever put a sunroof in their Ranger?? I've got an Ext. Cab so I'm thinking of putting one in.. anyone got any input?? any attempts to do so yet?

Yeah I just really like having the roof opened and miss it alot.. If i were to go ahead and do it, i'd definately get it done professionally at some shop. there's no way i'd ever trust myself to cut a large rectangle out of my roof.. the structual support problem has also come across my mind, but i guess a shop would be the people to tell me if it were doable or not, i got no idea on that one. i'm gonna ask a couple shops what they think about it this weekend sometime.

Shannon's sun roof was sweet. 8)
Swoop was asked and never reported any problems from flex or weaking of the cab structure.
It came wih the truck from the dealer, but it was an aftermarket (not Ford OEM) item. It did look like original equipment none the less. :D

I wouldn't mind having one!! after seeing swoop's truck with one!! The problem is who will do it properly without any structure problems to that issue!! I also wonder what's the cost of hims sunroof ?? Thanks in advance..

Along with the sunroof install, which I really wanna do next, I was also thinking of getting one of the overhead consoles from a newer explorer (with the temp and direction displays), and use the sunroof control unit from that.. that would be a perfect stock looking mod i'd like to have

If any of you ever put in an OHC or ever took your headliner out, there are strong suportive steal beams in place. If the truck has a sunroof installed those beams are cut and not much support is left, so this was a main concern.

I have a sunroof. One of the best mods to the truck yet. I've put them in myself, but beings how I only had the truck for a couple of months I let the dealer put them in. As to the safety concern. Yes the support beams are cut but there is an innner & outer trim ring that you bolt together which ties everything back in. Is it safe. I don't know. I'm not really worried about it. 8)

Saftey schmaftey, just don't roll the truck over and you'll be fine.

Yeah I remember that pic. It was wicked bad looking. It looked as bad if not worse than Edgeracer's truck from G-E when he rolled his.

Yup, windshield shattered and all. I would never put a sunroof in my truck after seeing that.

thats cool then.. i've called a couple places around here lookin for estimates.. the one place told me to call back cuase someone i'd need to talk to wasn't in or something like that, and the other place i called had 3 different models they could put on my truck.. one for 750, one for 850, and one for 950.. so prices are about the same i guess.. except i was told none of them were internal.. what brand are you getting, do you know???
