RANGERLOVER 09-22-2008 01:50 PM

i called ford and they said i have them on my truck cause i have the trail haed addition!!!!but i turned them by hand and their hard to turn!!!!

Toreador4x4 09-22-2008 01:51 PM

what is this site coming to?

hose em with pb blaster and use nothing but a hand ratchet on them. do the passenger side first because it is a shorter bolt and crank both sides evenly

RANGERLOVER 09-22-2008 01:53 PM

aight thanks

RANGERLOVER 09-22-2008 01:54 PM

how far can i go with them?cause i still see alot of the bolt left!!

Toreador4x4 09-22-2008 01:56 PM

you can max out the side with the shorter bolt, and crank the other side the same number of turns as it took to max out the longer one. do a couple turns at a time until you are happy with them, you can always go more. the passenger side should be the one that you can max out but check to make sure

NO! you need to measure how far you are turning each bolt. You cannot do that with an impact

Ranger_Guy15 09-23-2008 07:21 AM

Use a breaker bar on them Thats what I did and it wasn't that hard.

RangerExtreme 09-23-2008 02:04 PM

Just remember when u crank em u'e gonan be puttin alot more stress on u're ball joints and everything will ware out sooner. Not to forget u're truck will ride rough. How ever i have mine maxed n i took out my sway bars n she rides great now.

Removing the sway bars make a big difference?

Hanks Rangers 09-23-2008 03:41 PM

When cranking your t bars jack the truck up first so the front is hanging tun both equal amounts BY HAND! if its hard just man up, and when i did mine its best to just go 1.5-2" because you don't want to over stress them. place tape on the fender and measure off the ground and place one on the other side so they are equal. and turn away. just set the front down and remeasure and do this till you get 2" supposedly you won't need an alignment you can get one if you want, I didn't and didn't notice a difference.

CBFranger 09-24-2008 11:06 AM

no no no no no no no!

Braker bar and a lots of WD-40

RANGERLOVER 09-24-2008 12:24 PM

if i remove the sway bars does it make it go all over the road or does it not affect anything?

CBFranger 09-24-2008 12:29 PM

More body roll, possibly more potential for a roll over if you do any sudden jerks of the wheel.

However, you gain flex, some articulation, and some travel. If you are looking for maximum flex, SAS is the only way to go.

Personally I wouldnt do it unless I was putting on the dixon brothers coilover kit since it sets the wheels out wider and is overall a much better independent suspension.

Hanks Rangers 09-24-2008 12:30 PM

just affects body roll so you'll notice the cab lean more in corners

RANGERLOVER 09-24-2008 12:31 PM

aight thanks u guys ill have to think about this one

Hanks Rangers 09-24-2008 12:31 PM

here's a good question, how long after you crank your t bars will the ball joints go out?

Depends. How much wear did they have before hand? How much tension on the bars will be adjusted? What ' code ' bars? what kind of driving are you planning on doing?

I drive on nothing but streets and ball joints last me about 6 months. Dave does some off-roading and hes on his factory set still.

Too many variables to answer your question, it will be specific to every truck and every individual.
