You have to take the access panel off on the inside of the tailgate. Once you do that it will be obvious.

I know about getting at the handle mechanism by removing the access panel but.....has anyone faced a broken handle and a locked tonneau cover. To open the cover I need to drop the tgate and the damn plastic handle only operates one latch because it it 1/2 broken.???
|
That happened to me with my old plastic handle. I used a very long nose needle-nose plier to reach the broken part of the handle on the right hand side and got just enough of it to pull on it and force the handle to open. Since I replaced it with a chrome (metal not plastic) tailgate handle, I've had no problems.
