Tailgate hinge

Hello,

I hope I am posting in the right spot, if not please let me know.

i have a 2010 Ford Ranger XL extended cab 4.0.

my ranger did not come with a tailgate because it was built as a work truck with a work topper cap and doors instead of a tailgate.

i removed the work topper and bought a tailgate to install but the bed side hardware is missing.

can someone tell me the name of the part that goes behind the hinge brackets?

the bed side holes where the hinge brackets are supposed to go has square openings. I’m assuming there is some sort of plate that should be there for me to be able to fasten the the hinges to the bed.

thanks in advance, any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the forum

Here's a diagram from LMC Truck: https://www.lmctruck.com/1983-11-for...ate-components

I don't see what you are referring to, could it be part of the bed that's been removed?
But not sure why it would be removed

EDIT
Found this listing: https://www.ebay.com/itm/2002-Ranger...-/223850807945

1993 to 2011 Ranger bed parts will be the same

Might need to hit a wrecking yard, the hinge "backing plate" looks like it would work on either left or right side
With the hinges removed I bet they just fell out on the road over time

thank you for taking the time to help! Looks like the backer plate is what I need.

The one you posted from eBay would work but I need 2 of them. I can’t find the part listed online anywhere.

I will need to hit the junkyard.

thanks again!

Yes, it looks like the back plate is held in place by hinge and if hinge is removed then the plate may be able to jiggle free from back side and fall out
Not sure how you install the new ones, but I would see if you can get your hand up behind that area and maybe you will find one or both of those plates????
If its wide open on the back then they most likely just fell out on the road somewhere

When you get to the junk yard Steve, I think you will find that they are different.
The link to eBay shows the one with the groove in it, the other one has no groove, it's just round.
