Taking Flares off...

How do I go about taking them off? I took the small plastic pins off that were attached through the flare and lip of the fender. I see small screws with clips in the wheel wells, do I break the clips? Or is there a way to get to the front of them? I'm going back outside to look at it some more as I'm in a small hurry since I ahve to work in a couple hours so I thought I'd ask instead of using trial and error.

Dont' take them off unless you absolutely must, I had one fly off at 70mph and break the one behind it, and they are 170 each to replace then you have to paint them...

I'm painting the truck....Doing some surface rust repair and prep work. So I kind of have to take them off. And mine are grey unpainted plastic. I think I see what I have to do but the freaking screws and/or clips are going to break. I just have that gut feeling. So I'm going to look into modifiying the attachment method before I take them off.

Alright, after cleaning underneath of the truck better I found the little bolts, I hope they don't break. They are pretty rusty. Maybe I'll soak them in some PB Blaster and do it tomorow. Thanks Maurice.

Well if you're doing paint and cosmetic work....I'd just fill those holes and leave the flares off! They're grit/salt catchers(rust magnets).

I know they are, but I like how they look. I want to paint them gloss black, along with every bit of grey plastic trim during winter break. I am going to shave my front fender emblems though, and maybe put an 06 emblem on the tailgate.

i actually want a set of flares for my truck. However, I have a way to install that wont cath all the crap, and drain out if they do. My idea was caulking around them with silicone or something to seal them off, the drilling a little hole on each side into the flare to let out any water that may collect. this way, they wont collect all kinds of gunk

Wasn't hard finding body rot behind them after only 2 years.
