I'm back....

Well, just bought a Ranger today. Found a really nice '03 FX4 supercab, automatic, great shape, 57K miles so we went and picked it up. Sold my last Ranger (an '03 4x2 supercab) in '07 so I've been gone for a bit. Some of you may remeber me...the beige lowered Ranger with the Bullitt wheels...anyway..gotta go through this one tomorrow and check everything out, change the fuel filter, give it a good detail underneath, inside and out. I do have to fix a couple things but nothing major...

It has the typical fading plastic honeycomb grille, I remember how much of a pain it is to get the grille out of these from my last one but I'll try it again. Probably get some satin Krylon Fusion to fix that.

The black OEM step bars have their typical rust spots. I'll pull them off, pop off all the plastic, sand them off and refinish them in satin black also...any suggestions on paint? There are a few minor spots on the frame areas that I'd like to touch up too but I'll get some POR for that.

It also has the common clunk/hesitation when leaving from a stop. IIRC, that is a dry slip yoke and that is also fairly easy to fix...just have to drop the drive shaft and grease it back up.

Besides these inconviniences, it is a great looking truck and is in spectacular shape. Brand new tires (Firestone Destination LE) and runs and drives like new. Ironically, its Arizona Beige which was the same color as my last Ranger. This is the first 4x4 I've ever owned so it should be fun. It really wont be driven much, just had to get something for the weekends mainly as they are taking away the personal use of my company provided vehicle.

Thanks. Got the driveshaft out this morning and greased up the slip yoke...works like new now..no more clunk. Got it all cleaned underneath, changed the transfer case fluid, washed, and clayed. Taking a break before I get to waxing it. Kinda hot out today. Also, the idiot dealer I got it from put 6qts of oil in it when they changed it. Had to drain some out to get it to the right level. Ill be putting synthetic in it soon so it wont be in there long anyway. Also pulled apart the factory air intake and cleaned the MAF and throttle body...busy day!
