i need a mounting piece (well 2 actually) that i can bolt to my bed up against the cab, and will finnegal its way up outta the way of the low pro toolbox. As i cannot mount it to the toolbox bc its a low pro. Basically i need the same braceket as before, but it has to fit around the toolbox. i will have pictures up tomorrow. Hopefully somebody knows what im talking about. Kinda like this



just has to make sure it still has enough room when you open the top...

Who says you can't mount an antenna to a low profile tool box?





Lol, I am messing up bad tonight......Keep forgetting to add stuff to posts.

All I did was go to a local CB shop, and find a flat mount. Flipped my box over, bolted it on, and it worked....sorta. Ground was horrible. So, I took it off the box, mounted it directed to the bed of the truck with flat head screws, and one flat head bolt, and then put the box on. Ground was a lot better after I did that.

But, I switched to the front mount for the road trip so I could listen to people in front of me a little bit better (at least, that was my theory).

 

...in this case i cant. there is not enough room between the lid and base.

but hey, if theres a bracket out there, i dont see why not.

 

If you wheel your truck, you might want to watch out. It will be hitting the back of the cab.

Yes you can!



Go to lowes and get you some longer grade 5, 8 or SS nuts and bolts. Get crafty. I also have a 1/4" steel plate to reinforce the tool box, it would flex with the antenna. But not anymore..



And If i pull it REALLY far back it comes close to hitting the cab, but has yet to under any wheelin circumstances.

did mine like this so i can run a tool box. there is a piece of c-channel that runs the width of the bed to keep the flexing of the front rail to a minimum.

Goodysgotacuda - How is the ground on your toolbox. Have you done anything extra? Right now mines on my toolbox and I pick up so much interference. It stays at 75 % squelch and every 30 seconds or so I have a high pitch sound come through.

 

I have the antenna mount grounded to the frame. a 10ga wire goes to the factory body ground strap under the cab.

i do pickup some interference from my electric fan, i'll have to do something about that later

 

yeah, but i will be running duals, and need them in the other spot.

Running true duals, or one for show? (truck isn't wide enough for effective true duals)

 

Phil before you think about running duals... I think you need a better radio. If you are running duals...well I doubt you'll get much more than the static you already have. If you're running duals for show...that's a waste of money that could go to other things your truck NEEDS.
