Is this a good price?
I came across this ranger while doing a Site visit down south of the Cities. I pulled in because it was my favorite color.

Now here are the particulars
2001 Ranger Edge 4x2 with a 4.0 automatic.
It has the ugly 15x7 Aluminum rims and a rather obnoxious but workable fiberglass topper. It is in really clean condition with only minor blemishes
They are asking 8K for it but I plan on talking them down to 7000 to 7500 as my cut off.
Now I no the downsides of 2 wheel drive trucks and have owned my fair share in the past, but I can put about 3K down on this truck and pay the rest off before the year is out. I think it could make an awesome street truck that could still haul my boat and I could use to hunt and fish with. The only off-roading I do is to get back to my hunting spots and I usually use the little womens expedition anyway so I think for around a couple hundred dollar car payment I can easily justify the 2wd. Keep in mind I resurrected the explorer too, and that is 4x4. I would just rock that until the wheels fall off, but I need a vehicle that matches my personality and I hate the explorer. I might keep it for a trail rig though.
Now only knowing the 4X4 value I have no idea what it is worth. Now I know if the exact truck was a 4x4 it would sell at about 13K-15K in this market.
Your thoughts and opinions are appreciated.

Oh I am also thinking of making it something like this:
Or D.'s Ride only not as kicka$$ as I don't hav ethat kind of fundage, and I got to cars to restore in the next decade. More looks and a few go fast goody's. Plus I am not a kid anymore and I never race so I just want tsomething that is comfortable, looks killer and can be fun to drive at times.

I drove it yesterday and it has a wierd feeling transmission. I think it is about ready to go out. It had brand new fluid so I have no idea if it has been properly maintained or if the dealer just flushed it for the first time. I think I am going to pass for now. 1 Transmission in a year is more than enough.
