ha. not yet. and ill have college loans to think about as well. haha.

I'm thinking that I might just get a WRX around 12-15K and keep my truck. I'll have the best of both worlds and maybe give the Ranger to the girlie in a year or so.

Depends though.

That sounds like the best idea honestly. Then you will always have a backup vehicle.

Aside from that, you said she likes it, that would make her happy I am sure....

I would give my girl my truck but she refuses to learn how to drive a stick. I even put her on a SMALL dirt bike (pw80) just to try and get her use to the idea of changing gears....it ended badly thats for sure....

Nope. I'm doing AFROTC. WAY different that doing it enlisted.

I get to pay all my stuffback. yay...

My girl LOVES my truck. She's gotten to drive it a few times(when I'm drunk, at basic, etc.) LOL.

Nothing better than a hot chick in a nice truck.

not to mention the Kicker is an Army Reserve program...you get the 309 a month and the kicker is 350 for a total of 659 a monh plus your drill pay which brings you to around 8xx a month for 1 weekend a month and 2 weeks a year.

The Army college Fund is what you are talking about man.....when combined with GI Bill, it gives you up to 72,900 for college providing you qualify (50 on ASVAB) and enlist in designated skill.....you get a tax free check directly to you for the amount of 2025 a month....as a full time student.....damn im good.

Now back to your regularly scheduled Thread...

get rid of the ranger

in terms of costs, if you don't need the ranger (or really, really like it for their utility, 4wd, or off-road capability), then just stick w' the STI. It'll be MUCH more fun anyways

I got news for you. sti awd gets 19 city and 25 highway and evo is 18 and 24 or something like that. They suck on gas milage. Read if off subaru's web site! Then you have to think of how long you are going to own it. Don't expect 300k miles like you would in a 2wd ranger lol I've never seen a jeep wrangler over 175k miles 4x4 problems. Thats what I would beware of when buying a used evo or sti.
You want an auto cross car? Obtain a miata (?i don't know anything about this car other than they are cheap to race), Merkur (21mpg yay Germans and their electrical problems), rsx(? It's a honda, its gotta be good with great reliability although missing tq. lol), srt4(22+My friend Ceasar has a red srt4 with 130k on his and he beats his to ****. Not one problem yet and he's at "Stage wtf?" smoking evos terminator 03s and subarus all day long ).

I borrowed my brother's 05 srt4 for a month and went 220 miles on 8.5 gallons delivering pizzas while my 2006 ranger 3.0 was in the shop. Thats just over 25 mpg. I'd like to see any car with over 150 hp do that. I bet if i never went over 65 mph and wasn't in stop and go traffic i'd hit 30 mpg.

edit trying to prevent a flame: i'm not trying to say the srt4 is better than the wrx sti because its not and I love all 3 cars equally. Its only fwd- and short 100 hp. If you were looking for economy, buy an srt4 and you can still kill mustangs GTs and rsxs. Mod a little and keep up with wrxs. All srt4 owners I know would love to own either awd animal but can't afford it. I'd rather pay 20 grand for 260 hp than 35 grand for 300 hp and awd.. lol

honesty.. i see lotsa old subarus around, i have a friend with an old subie station wagon, with A TON of miles and still chuggin along (you know how those old subies sound lol), but not too many neons that's for sure.. I do hear of a lot of problems with neons, i guess in the same way people think all german cars have horrid electrical problems (mine doesnt yet, horray lol) Dont get me wrong, ive driven the SRT4 and they are fun little pocket rockets, but the rear crank downs is so cheap its not even funny, among other things. WRX's have dated interiors as well, but fit and finish is much better and they have power windows all around! lol. I guess i'm just too much into interior quality, but again that's just my .02.

Having had both the STI and a WRX in the last 18 months, they both get fine gas mileage if you can drive with sense. The STI got around 23 in the city and I never took it on road trips but the WRX gets 26 in the city and I think it puts gas back in the tank on road trips lol.

Can't beat my Honda though, 28 city and runs 12's NA.

I have considered selling my ranger as well because 15mpg SUCKS, but I do like it a lot and today at lunch I got bored and went offroading for 30 minutes. Can't beat that so I think I will stick with it.
