Fords new 3.7liter V6 makes small block v8 power

Anyone read about fords new 3,7 liter v6 in motor trend last month? Its supposed to be a kick *** engine... 300hp, 280lb of torque... and, the next big question, will it fit into the ranger? such as a 'drop in and go'?

That would be one upgrade, i myself would seriously consider.

I'm sure it'll fit in a Ranger but it definitely won't be "drop in and go"

Sounds like a sweet motor.

Maybe when the Ranger gets revamped it will have it as an option.

The 2011 v6 mustang will be the first 300+ hp car to get 30+ mpg. the down side (I'm just speculating) is another 30 to add into it. Which is price. I bet it ends up being $30,000 or close to it (decently equipped).

They have released the pricing. I'll try to find it.

you talking about ecoboost?
i'm pretty sure all of its current applications are latitudinal and it would take some modding to make it longitudinal for a ranger. but it has been done already, i think it was in lst months HOT ROD magazine? maybe this months

No. The N/A 3.7L V6.

Sad part is the "little" 2.0 I4 EcoBoost is said to be making 230 hp and 240 torque. More than my 4.0 V6....

The pricing for the new Mustang...

The 305-hp Mustang V6 starts at $22,995, while the 5.0-badged 412-hp Mustang GT starts at $30,495, with the V8 premium GT starting at $33,695. That's some pretty potent bang for your buck, especially as both prices include destination charges. Consider that the 304-hp V6 Camaro starts at $23,530, a difference of $535. Of course, that's for the 2010 Camaro, as Chevy has yet to release Camaro pricing for 2011.

I'd be more interested in dropping the new 5.0 in a ranger.

haha fair enough but this 3.7l could do very well in a ranger and is more than enough power realistically. It won't surprise me at all if this is in the next ranger but I'm having feelings that it will be one ugly *** truck

those prices are reasonable if they stick. i remember when the mini cooper came out. they advertised a starting price of $21, but $28 was the cheapest anyone had in stock. This wasn't dealer added profit, it was the options added.

I think I'd much rather take an old pushrod 5.0 than some new V6 in my ranger. The 5.0 would probably make better torque than the V6 which is big for a truck, lets face it this isn't a drag truck. Then on top of that I want the sound of a v8. I've never owned anything with less than 8 cylinders until I got my Ranger. To be honest one of the things I hate most about my truck is not being able to have a nice V8 sound. I'd kill for my truck to have a nice throaty 5.0 sound. The 5.0 isn't the hottest motor out there but it would be perfect for a Ranger, and their sound is second to none. (I can't believe I just became the guy that says he doesn't care about the performance just the sound). I'm reminding myself of those guys that pick a camshaft based off how lopey they are not wether or not they'll perform.

I would so much rather have 300hp and 30mpg than 300hp and 15mpg (in a daily driver that is). Thats just me though lol

Having a turbo that you have to consciously decide to spool is the best thing you can do for power and mileage.
