I was wondering about these throttle spacers too. I guess the only way to tell if a certain mod will improve performance is trial and error. For example, folks on here say headers wont do anything on the 4.0 rangers, but they are proven to increase power on other vehicles. If you flip through the jcwhitney catalog, nearly everything claims to add "15 hp" etc. If you were to believe that, you could theoretically buy every damn part they had and turn your Ranger into a 1000 hp beast with just bolt-ons. Obv. not the case.

Headers alone won't do much but I think that this is a common problem with guys. They install one item and think it will give them what they want. But you have to consider the whole system. It's the weakest link syndrome. You can have a 3" exhaust system but if there's a spot that's only 2" then the whole thing may as well be 2". Cat backs alone, no good. Headers alone, no good. Do it all plus increase you cat size and now you have a system.

I installed a throttle body spacer, intake, and a Flowmaster. I got 19 HWY when I bought it and now I get around 20-21 HWY.

Did the combination of these things do that? Unlikely, the light foot and smart driving skills I developed has done most of the work.

The only intake mod I can see that might make sense is a smooth intake tube. It's already a CAI right from the factory.

With a crank pulley alone, a shorter belt is needed.

My e-fan doesn't kick on 6 months out of the year. Truck warms up much faster as well.

If you have an e-fan which draws more current on hot days and then you slow down the alternator with under drive pulleys, do you ever have charging problems?

I've never had any charging problems on either my Mustang or my Ranger with underdrives and e-fan. Stock alternator on both vehicles. I use A/C a lot in the summer heat as well.
