I mean, if I did just put a 2wd tranny back in, can't I just change the tail shaft when I'm ready to do 4wd?

I'm pretty sure there is more to it then that... Griggs is doing it to his but there is alot of work involved...

you can get a 4wd trans off ebay for under 1000, its rebuilt but then you need a transfer case and and new rear driveshaft...

^^ouch, thats a little too much...

Right now, looks like I'm getting a factory refurb unit, up to 2007 specs and it's going to have stiffer springs and clutch packs. The mechanic is charging me VERY little more for the extra's, so I'm going to do it. He said he has all the parts in house, so it looks like it will be done in a day or two.

I will get an update in a couple hours. He still doesn't know exactly what malfunctioned, but he said if I have to replace it, it will be upgraded and he is putting an extended breather on it, etc. Trying to prevent it from happening again...
