ok this weekend thing was take my rusting KC roof bar off and recoat it with the stuff i used on my brush gaurd. to much salt here and everything bloody rusts to fast. so time to make it new agian also i never did like my wiring job i did it in a rush when it was getting cold out last year.

ok here is some shots of it finished, after about 1 day of grinding to get it back to workable metal, and coating

here is the 4 holes that i personally drilled into it when i got it to run the wire loom into because there isnt any holes from KC so i made my own back when i got it

acully no i forgot too LMAO...sorry it was rusty as hell on the underside of it. and on the ends that you have to cut off also where i drilled the holes. i painted the parts with touch up paint after i drilled and cut before the first time but touch up paint sucks and i knew it was just a quick fix being that i live in MI with salt. thats what killed it. it was mostly surface rust....

How well does that coating hold up, does it scratch pretty easy? They have a dupli-color one but it scratches pretty easy if you dont use primer. But even then it is still a lil easy to chip.

Zach
I was wondering....I would love to use this stuff on my safari bar and my hitch. What would be your opinion on How well that Truck bed liner stuff would stick to the powder coat. or do you think I would need to prime the bar in some way. let me know what you think and also. How many cans of that stuff did you use on your light bar?
Thanks

Ok I did it on my KC bar and my front push bar located here https://www.ranger-forums.com/forum2...ead.php?t=5634

BOTH had powder coating. also did it on my dads trailer hitch before we installed it. what you want to do is take a grinder and grind off all the rust. then take like a orbital sander and stand down all the paint to rough it up. like 300grit 200 or so work good. then use a good paint prep like Pre-cleano that removes all the dust and wax/silicoen on the paint or what not. then hang up the part or what not. then start spraying work in LIGHT coats not thick. let dry for like 10-15 min then put another light coat. on my front bar has 2 cans my kc bar has 2 cans. everything is holding up good my dads hitch has 2 cans also on it and his hitch still looks like brand new! i love this stuff. let it dry ATLEAST a day and a half before re-install. and DO NOT use it if its really humid out the stuff acks funny. hell i did my KC bar 1 can on friday then went to work then on sat morning i put the secound can on. have fun and enjoy...

I know its works I use it constantly its a great poor mans powder coating. holds up really well and this brand doesnt fade so far that i notice. also out of about 15 cans i have used I have only had one bad can and it turned out to be a silver makered as a black go figure. covered it up with another can and you would never know...

Do you think it would be good to spray the whole bed with that stuff or just get a spray in bedliner? If the bedliner would be better how much does that usually run because I had some crap in my bed that scratched off some paint on the inside of it and is now starting to rust!
