I have gone 150+mph... wait wait that was in my GTI hehe.

Truck governor. I couldnt imagine taking a truck over 100 esp ours. My gti on full coils loves going 100+ and it gets there way tooo easily.. like without me even noticing.

Trucks are not designed for speed.

/thread

If someone wants to go try to get top speed great have an accident and learn a lesson.

I've been up to 95 mph on my 33s, and it didn't top out. It wasn't scary at all for some reason the truck took it well.

100mph w/ limiter.....don't really need to go that fast, its how fast you get there that thrills me.

before my rear sway bar it would float at about 80 and scare the hell out of me.

but with the rear bar installed i noticed a huge difference, its a lot more stable at 80+

gonna flip my rear shackles here soon to level it out and hopefully improve the stability a little more

btw:1996 2.3L, 5spd, reg cab. short bed

Mine barely cracks 55..... with the camper on

I think its governed at about 95, my previous '93 was governed at 105 but stock it would have done 120 no problem... if I could keep it between the lines! Both like to float a lot around 100. My previous two Rangers before those a) '90 4x4 longbox with 4.10s and 2.9L - MAYBE 75 if the lifters would hold out, b) 87 2wd long with 3.45s and 2.9L - easily 120 all day long. That truck liked to haul ***. Seems like the newer they get the slower they get, for me anyways.. or I'm just getting old!

I find the 4.10s are perfect for my truck because I'm always hauling a load with it. Otherwise it would be MUCH happier with 3.73s which is why I wish Ford would offer that options for the spec'd out trucks (instead of just sticking them all with the same gearsets). Fuel mileage would increase drastically too. LR

I love how the ranger doesn't have a Reverse limiter like most cars.

what i find interesting is you can ask 3 different people, all with the same engine (say 4.0), but each will claim a different "top speed"

I am sure I could push it past 96. I have never tried though... 96 is just what my GPS has recorded as the fastest speed.

and also others say it doesn't take too long, others say it takes forever......

to me, no ranger without a v8 will ever be fast...

on the other hand....a certain 03 mustang with certain svt badges... something like 4.5 sec 0-60 makes it hard to compare

140kph on a good day with the 3.0/auto. I'm assuming a 5.0 will raise that ever so slightly.
