Bought a Scan Gauge II
I have had it about a month now and it is interesting to watch but just how accurate is it? I have read some posts of others using theirs and decided to get one.
I also bought a K&N complete air intake system. I am going to use the Scan Gauge to document the performance of my truck with the stock intake and then the same day document the performance with the K&N system. I will do a 0-60 mph test with a stop watch to see if there is any improvement. Mostly I hope to get a few mpg gain along with the claimed hp improvement.
What do the owners of the Scan Gauge think of theirs and do you trust the readings?

one thing that you can test is the air temps at the maf sensor. That is an option with the scan gauge II. You can bunk or debunk the whole cold air/warm air theories by checking temps with the two air intake systems. This is assuming the outside air temps stay consistent. get it steady at 50 mph or so and wait for the reading to level off, then do it again with the K&N.

I added the hp and intake air gauge. The intake air gauge seems to read ok but the hp don't show anything, it stays on 0.0 so I.m not sure I got the right codes in. I will add some of the other gauge readings soon.
The reason is I want to get as many before and after gauge readings for the K&N filter system. The tack don't read what my dash tack does and I can't change either one of them. The speedo is very accurate and checked with a stop watch and mile markers over a long distance. I can't get the scan gauge speedo closer than 1 to 2 mph but that don't bother me.
Since the reading is only as accurate as the sensor it is recording info from the quality of the sensor is of prime interest to me. Because the computer depends on accurate info I have to hope the sensors are accurate.
To do a comp test on the stock air filter and the K&N would show any changes but they may not be the same as on some elses trk depending on the condition of their sensors.
It's interesting to watch the gauge and change to different gauges and so far I mostly watch the intake air, mpg and engine temp. but that will change as I add more of the gauges. It's kind of tricky adding the codes to get the extra gauges and I get tired of dealing with all the letters and numbers after about 5 minutes and that's about what it takes me for one new gauge.
