VW Ranger

You might be a redneck if...

VW Ranger Chevy:

Ebay Link: Click Here

Up for auction is something you won't see everyday. A 1971 Volkswagon Beetle convertible- 1985 Ford Ranger- Chevy- MONSTER!! Ok, we took the body from a 71 VW and put it on an 85 Ford Ranger frame, and then slammed a Chevy crate motor and tranny into the mix. The body is solid and the body work is ok looking. We didn't go to great measures to get the body work perfect. There are imperfections, and will need some repair if you want to do so. The windows are shaved along with the door handles. And there is NO TOP. There are 4 or 5 different colors of paint on it that were not done professionally, but look pretty good. I started the flame work, and then my dad decided to finish it. The windshield is chopped 4 inches with a lexan windshield. Also has a painted rollbar, Seats from an eclipse, Camaro shifter and cassette/CD player. It has electric pop open doors with safety latches. My dad made custom diamond plate running boards that are strong enough to stand on. The frame and rearend are from an 85 Ford Ranger 2WD pickup, that was never wrecked. We did alot of welding a new substructure to stiffen the body and mount it to the frame, but did not do any cutting on the frame except in the rear where the origional bumper brackets mounted. Suprisingly, it all went together nicely. Next, we pulled the 350 motor and 350t tranny, guages and wiring harness out of a mid 70"s chevy pickup. The motor has around 20,000 origional miles on it and was a crate motor bought in the mid 90's. I don't know which company it came from, but it runs very strong and will turn the mickeys to smoke!! I would rate the HP between 300-325, but have never had it measured. There is a edelbrock performer manifold and a Holley 750 double pumper sitting on top. It has true dual exhaust with 2 glass pak mufflers, and 3 inch tail pipes. And it sounds NASTY!! There is some work needed to be done. The rear seal on the tranny leaks fluid pretty bad and needs replaced. And the charging system may need to be rewired. Sometimes it won't start right off. The alternater and battery are good, but acts like there is a bad connection somewhere. We put a jump box on it and it fires right up. The tires are Mickey Thompson- Baja Radial MTX 35-12.50-15, and in excellent shape. The rims are Eagle Alloys with a polished aluminum finish and are also in excellent condition. This thing is a REAL Eye Catcher and is loads of fun to drive and show. This car has been in several shows in the Atlanta area and was featured in a few magazine articles. We just have too many projects and need to finish something else. So, read the description and look at the pics carefully and Then ask questions. We may be interested in trade for two newer four wheelers for hunting season. The reserve price will be kept confidential due to people who like to play on ebay. I will try to answer your questions ASAP. This vehicle is sold as is, where is and is located in Jonesboro, GA. About 30 minutes south of Atlanta. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!!

I'd race people in that. Put some big bling rims on it and a better paintjob.

Eh the body work looks a little shoddy. I have nothing against the idea or the build though.
