attach tree saver to truck then to winch with towel? what

i think it goes like, put tree saver around tree truck, attach winch hook to loops? lol

If you need to put 2 straps together a Becket Bend knot would be alright choice IMO

also inspect your straps before you use them, if they are torn dont use them.

wayne sells a nice strap. I have one of them and its nice leather wrapped ends.

I also bought Bills tree saver.

So what would be the best recovery or all around tow strap? seems like there are a lot of different ones.

I've got an 06 FX4. How strong are the tow hooks up front and the one in the rear? Anyone know?

I was about to ask the same thing sparkyz...i have an 07 fx4 and the only real tugging i did was an S10 outta some light mud, his tires were looking like slicks and he just kept spinning. ....hehe stupid chevy's

the ones up front should be pretty strong, i have no idea about the ones in the back, i've never seen em

both are strong but the front only pull from BOTH hooks never just 1. you will destroy your front cross member and risk tweaking the frame. the rear is good but 100% recommend getting a hitch..

i've got a buddy that has a grand cherokee and he's shown me a vid of a hook going through a windshield so i've stuck to the woven hoops as well.

this older gentlemen that used to come into the speed shop here local all the time he had a lifted jeep. he was trying to get a friend unstuck when the strap gave way and the clevis came shooting up and went threw his skull. sad to say he died.. thats why i take this so seriously.. it isn't joking around...

same thing happened pretty much, shattered the windshield and he had a nice gash on his head, i guess he got lucky.

yes he did. i had a buddy that was pulling a guy out with a chain. moron he is. the chain broke came back broke out the rear glass bent the whole cab in, like the rear windshield poped out it was so bad.. and came in and cut part of his ear off.. he got really lucky

Another great thing is synthetic winch line. I swear by it. it's about a hundred dollar upgrade, can be bought on ebay, it's not sharp, does not recoil, etc.

I like what everyone else is saying. I love D rings, I hate hooks.

^^^ just remember that it still can brake too.. seen that happen also.. its not AS violent but still could be with shackles and things...

they are strong but ive bent both in a few different situations.

ive seen chains and straps all snap and i have seen clevis pins shear/bend

yes everything WILL brake at some point its trying to keep people safe is the game

blasting all the mud and dirt **** outa the strap at the car wash with a high pressure rinse wont hurt anything will it?

dont get the nossle to close to hurt the fabric. also let dry COMPLETELY so it doesnt mold/rot...

it hasnt broke 40 here in a while, thats gonna take a while

i guess thats on nice thing about TX, the humidity didnt help though

synthetic winch line is nice but you have to make sure you use a sleeve to protect it from getting cut.
