I didn't mention it, but to make things clear -- I have a Class III hitch and a 7 wire harness. There's no way I'd tow my trailer hooked to my bumper or without the brakes.

I saw something kind of funny (but really more sad than funny) once. It was a guy with an old truck. He was hauling a trailer of sand. When he stopped at a traffic light (probably a hard stop), the trailer, which was hitched to the bumper, did not stop. Bent the bumper and tore the ball off it, dumped the sand all over the road. He probably wasn't very far from home either...
