a towing question....

Ok so I just bought a new 6W x 12L utility trailer and plan on putting a side x side on it next spring. Total weight that I'll be towing will be about 2600 pounds. It's never going to go terribly far, maybe 15 to 25 miles at the most. The truck has a class 3 hitch on it and is a 2001 Ext. cab with the 4.0L SOHC V6. (for those who don't read signatures)
I don't think I'll have any issues, I've pulled more with it before without any problems. Not going great distances, just need to pull it from one riding spot to another. Think the 4.0 can handle it? This is where I need reinforcement from you guys lol

I tow my race car on a trailer all over the country at about 3500 lbs total. I have no problems on most inclines. I do have to downshift going over the Rocky Mountains in Colorado. I do not tow in OD, I just leave it in 4th. I have trailer brakes but at 2600 lbs you should be able to get by without them if you are careful. I towed without trailer brakes for many years but was very happy that I converted to them.

You should have no problem power wise towing 2600 lbs with the 4.0 SOHC engine. You did not say if you have a automaitic or not but that would make it easier for you.
