legal?

does anyone know if it its legal to drive without the front bumper on? i got in an accident this afternoon, and im tryin to straighten out the front bumper a little without much luck. but if i leave my bumper on, then im risking it jabbing into my front tires. i live in GA

It's not legal in MN. I have a buddy that has had two tickets from that. I would assume that is pretty much the norm all over the country.

i know in michigan your not allowed to drive with out any kind of a bumper

It is most likely illegal in all 50 states. It would be silly to not require them.

here in VA i drove around for almost 3 monthes with out one on and didnt get a ticket or even a second look from a cop, and my buddy last summer got his 92 F150 inspected with out a front bumper and it passed

well.. ive got my bumper situation more staihtend out, but ive gotta find a drivers side foglight, new grill, and new plast shroud thing and the base of the bumper. other than that, i can straighten out the bumper

well I have read online, in multiple places about how the US Gov doesnt require automakers to put bumpers on trucks and SUVs, their more of a way to make the vehical look finished, than to protect you, I kinda remember reading about how truck dont require bumpers, but cars do...

if its a hassle, just drill two holes in a 2x4 and stick that on the truck for the time being.

I dont know if it is Illegal here..but I have been driving with a front bumper for darn near a month for the exact same reason. it was rubbing the tires

Do you have a link to support that? I find it very hard to believe that the FMVSS standards that require them for cars don't apply to trucks and SUV's.

i know in the state of florida you have to have something there that can handle up to 5 mhp in pack.
