'93 ranger automatic will not shift
Hello everyone. Brand new member here, with some issues.
I have a '93 Ranger with the 3.0L V6, automatic, 2wd and about 200k miles. I have owned for about a year or so, but I have never had any problems that I couldn't figure out fairly quickly.
The other day the truck started right up, but when I went to shift into reverse, the shift lever went all the way down to "1". The night before, I had parked it in my garage just like any other night, nothing out of the ordinary.
I am not sure what to do next. I got under the truck and checked the shift cable and it is still connected, nothing obviously wrong. I also took off a couple of panels from underneath the steering column and lowered the column a bit and I did not see anything obviously wrong or disconnected. That said, I am not really sure what I would be looking for anyway, my Haynes manual is no help here.
Has anyone ever had this problem? Anyone have any suggestions? I will be grateful for any input.
Thanks for your time.
Hector
