Trade in value??

I can't find anywhere to get a trade in price on my truck.
It runs great pretty much, starts every time. recently had, and only has 126k miles on it.
New windshield
New $400 dollar tires
New fuel pump
Complete tune-up
New clutch
Exterior in great condition, as is the interior
all new brake lights, all rear lights replaced
New all 4 new shocks
new front brakes
New radiator
new thermostat
oil changed as is filter 45 miles ago.
Waxed

So with all this, what do you guys think trade in price for like a 94-2001 Dodge Ram Cummins would be? and what would i have to pay aside from what i get for trade in.

Ok maybe you mistakenly misread my post.
I want to trade mine in for what ever they will give me, and put it toward one of there older rams Dodge has on the lot, they have like nine 2nd gen rams 94-98.
I don't expect to get much, like 500 to a grand, to put towards.

Are you trading it in at a dealership? If so you will probably get nothing or like a zebra cake and a hoho for it. Most all dealerships have no interest in a 22 year old truck.

x2 where i work you would be lucky to get 500 for it...your better off keeping the ranger and buying the cummins as a 2nd truck

d0sitmatr Nov 13, 2010 07:29 AM

or selling it outright and using the cash as a down payment.

you think he would get more for selling it privately?

rolsmojave3 Nov 13, 2010 07:35 AM

I'd give you $500 for it. I just bought a 93' in good shape with 4.0 and 2wd, 5 speed....100k miles on it for $500

those are the only things the dealer cares about and age of vehicle

and trust me on this one...your definition of great shape and the dealers definition are usually TOTALLY different

Just looked at kbb for trade in value on it and it says you have to pay 500 more if you trade it in

Ford04Ranger4.0 Nov 13, 2010 10:43 AM

Sell it out right

Well it's not really a dealership, it's one of those places who has a big lot of cars and trucks, but i want to sell mine to em, and use the cash for the down payment or something on either a V8 or a Cummins.

It's worth over $1200, my neighbor who owns this towing company in Utah, the biggest.
He had it priced at $1500 on his lot, that's what his guys priced it at, but he sold it to me for only 800.

djfllmn Nov 13, 2010 01:21 PM

id say put it up on CL starting at 1500 and see what you get

He sold it to you for $800 because he probably paid $500 on it in trade.

darkstar_420 Nov 13, 2010 01:27 PM

if you trade it in for 500 they are not gonna bargin with you on the ram because they took your trade, where as selling it private or keeping it and going in you may be able to talk them down a grand or 2 on the new truck...

exactly.
and yes, I do believe he would get more as a straight out sell than as a trade in.

brendo08ranger Nov 13, 2010 10:00 PM

best way to find out how much its worth. it a secret so don't tell anyone but i will let you in on the info.

step one) drive it to the dealership (place you want to sell to)
step two) ask "how much trade in can i get for this
step three) take the money or get in truck and drive home

KLC Nov 13, 2010 10:14 PM

You will get more private party. I'm thinking you will get $500 to $800. I'd start at $1,000.
