I miss my ranger, But I know that even though rangers sticker for the same as they did in 2004 for the most part, the cost of manufacturing has gone up, therefore no more 18K dollar Level II's (I know they don't make level II's just talking about my last brand new truck) I just can not spend more than 20K on any ranger, it just is too much IMO. Still think they are the best non full size truck made right now though.

i would trade for an 03(Edge or FX4 II) if it was in the same condition as my 96

for those who haven't seen my truck up close....i could eat off the engine and the interior is spotless. the undercarriage is the same way....it looks like a new truck inside and out but its 13 years old

FMD, just curious why do you have over 120 foot of extension cord under your truck?

See I don't really like the Front end on anything 06+ And I hate the Uber big Ford emblems. The stx grill is the and the color matched 04-05 Level II and Edge grills are the only ones I like that are newer than 03.

he thinks using the conventional way of wiring isn't correct and uses extension cord for all his wiring. I still dont get it..

But after thinking about it, Probably not. I have done ALOT of work to my truck, and not only that but my ranger also carries with it some sentimental value as my dad helped me pick it out. I know 98% of my 'mods' have been visual based mods, even so... Now that I have had this ranger, for 5 years... I look at a new truck and all I see is MONTHS of work.

What would you do?
is this true trade in the old one get a new one free? how? just a question

its not that its 'wrong' Its just that an extension cord offers a few benefits over conventional wiring.

such as only having to run ONE wire. All the wires are together in a neat little weatherproof package... your positive and ground are both in one neat little package. You can also go up in your awg easier... Extension cord also doesnt seem to want to 'coil' as much and is thus easier to pull thruogh to places.

If you use 3 prong cord, you can run 2 hot lines and one ground all in the same cord, giving you better feed and more stable power where you need it.

Like my 4 KC's 2 extra back up lights, and brake/turn signals I have mounted on my headache bar... thats all fed using 10awg extension cord 3 wire. 2 are hot, one is a ground. this ensure I dont overload my harness.

My dad came up with the idea, and personally, I think its a great idea, plus it looks cleaner than stray wires running everywhere.

Ive considered this... If I could get all the factory options Id want. It would be even better if you could get the drivetrain, body and interior from different generation rangers that I want and still call it a new one... Or have the dealer swap my mods over to the new one for free hahaha
