MPG question. PLEASE HELP!
I have a 2001 Ranger XLT with a 4.0 V6. Now I know that the gas mileage is not supposed to be outstanding but its not supposed to be as bad as an old bronco's is it? My daily commute consists of about 1 1/2 hours(including traffic) or about 60 miles all together. Is my truck supposed to be sucking a half a tank each time? I have also checked all probable causes I could think of. If you know why it might be doing this please help.
Thanks
Josh

Have you done a tune up at all recently? the truck is 10 years old already.
plugs
wires
air filter
oil filter
change oil
fuel filter
tires up to proper pressure
clean throttle body
clean maf
remove excess weight from truck
ease your driving(not flooring it every takeoff)
change diff fluids
every little thing adds up.
get a scan gauge or an ultra gauge and monitor it

Ethanol laden gas is also a real mileage killer. Look around for an alternate gas station.

Check the cooling fan clutch to see if it's frozen and not letting the fan slip when cool. With the engine cold you should be able to turn it with one finger.
