Transmission switch question: What is it?

Hello all:

I just pulled the M50D out of my 94 Mazda B4000 to overhaul it. Since I do not live in USA I need to order all the necessary parts at once to have them shipped here. My question is about the switches located on the shifter housing. I have determined that the red one on the left side is for the backup lights. What is the one on the right side for? It appears to be black. has 2 wires???? maybe. and the threads where it goes into the housing are coarse. It looks like before the truck was shipped here it was buggered up really good by some hillbilly mechanics in the USA. The switch appears to have been broken and you can see where they had soldered the wires on to it and coated it all with silicone. In fact most of the truck appears to have been patched together out of whatever they had on hand the last time the tranny was out. there were only 2 bolts holding the bell housing on to the motor and they were stripped.

The 94 and earlier 4.0 M5OD had a Neutral Sensing Switch on the right side of the cover plate.
