I'm planning for a project to pull the bed off and put some Chassis Saver rust paint on the rear frame (any thoughts on this are appreciate as well )

While it's off, I was thinking of repairing or replacing the most rusted part of the frame - the spare tire carrier.

Is this something that can be replaced, and is it easily replaceable? Say, by bolts vs rivets like rear leaf spring mounts?

 

I just painted my frame as well. I had to replace the shackle mounts. My spare carrier wasn't bad enough to warrant a replacement. Here is a pic that shows how it mounts. Not sure about the product you mentioned. I painted mine with a rust converter and then sprayed it with tractor paint. I just did it so I don't know how long this method would hold up.
